Hey guys, I think my transmission is about to go.  My truck was born in Dec. of '80 and it's a 4 speed but it's a model year '81 so is that an L43 or L45 trans?  And a question for the marlin staff?  Since my truck is only a 4 speed?  how much would you give as a core for my 5 speed if I were to buy a L52-HD?

correction, my question to the staff was how much would you give me as a core for my 4 speed if I were to buy the 5-speed L52HD?

Where is the shifter?  If it comes up from the side of the trans its a l43 if its from the top then its a l45.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Exactly, but its most likely a L45 as I *think* L43's were only used from 79 - June/80.

Just go by the core prices on our webpage. The core for a L52-HD is $250 and the core for a L43 is only $200, so you would be charged $250, and then once you sent in your L43, refunded $200, so you would be out $50-

Okay since I do have an L45, and the cor on both the L45 and L52 HD both say $250, then I wouldn't be out any money on the core, or is it different when you buy a 5 speed and send in a 4 speed?
