ORCRC Crawlin' & Bashin'... pics....
« on: Jun 14, 2004, 08:20:30 PM »
Few of us(The ORCRC gang) got together on Sunday down at the Wheatland Ferry near Salem.  First section of rocks I didn't snap any pictures.... it was, or could have been a deady course for these crawlers.  One false/bad move and down 20ft to the bottom ya go   :shake_head:

The next area over by the Ferry was fun, not much hardcore stuff but a few lines that were just tough enough to piss you off and make you keep going back for more.... I kept having a slider pulling out problem on one tough line, about 5-6 times it happend and I never did make it up it  :(

Today was also the day to tackle poor little Tater-Tot

Anyway... few pics for you web crawlers  :D

Take about tons of flex     :stopit:  It's a fun rig though...

    :king:

My gear reduction unit slid away from the spur allowing it to free-wheel... had to test the power of Sean's TLT crawler.  It did awesome too, Dan even snapped a few pics of it doing wheel stands on the ferry/boat ramp pulling the 'Tot up hill...... funniest thing all day!!

None.  Nitro sucks for crawling.  Nitro is only for going fast.

We can get any where from 25-60 minutes on one battery pack... depending on our setups.  Mine, the big ass pile of booty fab Jeep bodied rig runs for about 25 minutes under hard use but that's because the 1/4 scale servo sucks up too much juice, I'm building a reciver pack to run the servo(s) currently.  Should push run time to nearly 40 minutes, I hope :confounded:

If anyone is in the PDX area feel free to come and watch our Comp(Round 3) on Sunday, June 27th @ High Rocks Park.  Should be a good turnout too.  More info at, http://www.rccrawler.com/postt941.html

Figure a well built hardcore crawler, finished... runs in the $600-1000 range, depending on which base model you start with & how much fab work you can do on your own.

Mine, the Jeep bodied one is currently in the area of $550 but it's still under construction.  I still need a chassis, links, another servo, and some misc parts to finish it off.  I'm guessing that by the time I'm done I should be pushing the $700 mark.  My other crawler topped off right near $600 but it wasn't as time consuming or as much of a project as this one.

Tater-Tot(Jeep bodied one) stats are,
- Kongs on narrowed stock rims
- X-Factor axles and partial chassis
- Jugg2 tranny w/GD-600 reduction unit
- Mag Mayhem(only one motor)
- 1/4 Hitec HS-5735MG servo
- Super Rooster ESC
- And other crap that help it crawl....

The H2 bodied one is a mixture of parts, pretty much a RC Crawler hybrid...
- one off custom chassis
- 'Pede tranny
- TLT axles
- 2.2 tires
- Super Rooster ESC
- Independent 4ws
- and lots of other cool things...

The H2 one is a sweet crawler, small in size but can spank the larger crawlers with ease...unless there are really big rocks like at our last Comp.

How much would you say the hummer one costs?

How much it costs right now?  Not including the radio, as I can't remember which radio Sean uses....

I'd put it at about, $350-400 some where, not including the radio he uses... I think the radio he uses is about $350.  He has many, many hours into building it too.

The rig is mostly based off the TLT axles and Stampede tranny.  You could buy a stock TLT-1 for about $130-150, then add bearings $20, Servos $80, ESC $90, motor $20, and a decent 3ch radio for about $200.  But then you'd still be stuck with the crappy stock tranny, chassis, tires/wheels, links and other misc pieces that if you really wanted to crawl you would have to ditch them.
