Who do you think I got it from? :beerchug:  Still trying to make the final decision if the price increase up to $240 is going to be worth it for vendor status over at PBB.

What is the % that should be spent on advertising in relation to the revenue?

I don't know that there is a % persay.  When I spend money advertising, I like to think that I will get at least 1/2 of my money back in profit from advertising there.  I don't think I did that when I paid $100 for the vendor star on PBB, so $240 is almost a no brainer to say no.  That being said, I don't want to cut off my nose despite my face, you know?  The way a lot of people brag about vendor status on PBB, I was under the impression that doing business the way I was, I should have NO problem recouping ALL of the vendor star cost, and to be honest, it was mostly just price wars between myself and other vendors.  And a lot of it was a big waste of time.  I was giving PBB members my cost +10% for everything, but obviously that either wasn't enough, or someone else was beating my prices.  I have a good idea of who it was, and he was probably just giving it to them at cost, since he'd still get commission $$ from it.  I'm wondering if paying for banner ads on a different site would increase my $$.

According to what I can find online, you should be spending about 20-30% on marketing.
I don't know if this helps any

Mel, I am working on it.  Got notification from Riverside County today that the resumes are being compiled this week, and if my resume was in the list, I will get a call.. Cross your fingers for me :D

Mrs. WillyMammoth,
Maybe thats why I am in the red for this year in sales? :hammerhead:  I spend too much on advertising.. But.. then again, its a new business, and I can't really expect to go gangbusters the first year.  To answer your question, yes, I am an Amsoil dealer, and I would LOVE it if I could do it full time eventually, but right now, its just not gonna pay the bills.

Well.. sort of.. its not that amusing.. lets just say, it involved some rubber line, some gasoline, my big fat fingers, and my eyeball.  Gasoline hurts in your retina.

Good times!  I got some gasket stripper in my eye and immediately headed for the bathroom, no waiting for it to hurt.  I have contacts and was afraid it'd eat them but got lucky.  It did start hurting pretty good by the time I got to the bathroom, so heading there right away was a great move  :yesnod:

I can understand the vendor stars (although that price does seem steep!) but what does a red star get you?

Ability to post pics and it used to allow you to search, but I think they've opened that up to all people on the board...

Basically, you make a donation to Lance, one of the founders of the board  :tantrum:

I post pics and search that forum anytime I choose. Heck they have told me how to do it. I use photobucket to post pics, and I use the google search option that 4runnerrick posted in the toyota faq at the verry top.

X2. I have never felt the need to pay an annual fee for pirate. i use this board a lot more. if it was a 20 dollar, one time fee I would pay it, but not an annual fee.  I can still search and I can still post pics there if i need to so there is no need for me to pony up for what i can already get for free

The question was "what does a red star get you?", so I was merely answering that. I agree that it can be done different ways  :moon:

You also get the ability to enter the various vendor giveaways, which you can't do without a star.  Yea I'll never win, but why not try?  Doesn't the money go toward trails or something useful?

Yeah that is the only thing i miss out on but yes you have a point, i am sure the money does go towards perserving trails. id actually like to know what they do with it or if its all profit.
