New cooling fan install

1st thing was to get the the old fan and clutch assemble out the way.



Then make some "L" brackets to attach the electric cooling fan to a 1984 metal shroud

The fan was from a Suzuki SideKick



then tighten the four angle brackets





Here is the fan/shroud bolted up to the radiator



This is what it looks like from the top looking down and the clearance between the engine.

I don't know how to look it up or get a part number, I'm sure some one on here has the knowledge to find it but all I remember is that It came off of a standard cab Toyota 4x4 that I bought a few years ago.When I parted out the truck it was one of the few parts I kept

I'll rephrase.....  looks small because of the gap in the shroud.       The shroud doesn't do anything with a gap like that.

i agree it doesnt look right, the factory fan is a lot bigger than that electric, it fills the shroud. i almost couldnt get my shroud over the fan until i realized there was a cutout on the bottom that bolted in

looks good. I'm running a free 3 core now off a 90's truck.. 2 core on my 79 was gone. had to mount it back towards the engine 1/2 inch to keep it from hitting the hood. a little close to the engine so i broke the plastic shroud in a fit of get it done.  anyway put the 79 metal shroud on.. bolted right to the newer rad. yes there is a gap but the motor runs very cool.

i wish i had pics of my elec fan and shroud, but i made a piece of sheetmetal cover my entire radiator and then cut out a hole the same size as the fan, and it is the most efficient shroud possbile, oh the fan was off a newer chevy truck and spans nearly over all the cooling fins, this thing cools like a champ, also on a new 3 row radiator

I measured the electric fan and it's 13 1/2" the opening in the shroud is 17". I understand your question now and see  that it will not be the most efficient.
that the radiator is for a automatic and a little larger than the one with a standart transmission that it will still cool the engine.With an opening like that later on isn't a 16" the next standard size?

ditch the shroud, buy a piece of sheetmetal, cut out a hole, bolt fan to it

i just measured mine its 16" too........
