R154
« on: Dec 30, 2007, 01:50:02 AM »
I been trying to find info on the R154s and i know that it came out of a 86.5 supras but I am wondering how I can use one of these in a 85 22re, would it just bolt up with any mods or would i have to get a special bellhousing to bolt the R154 to the 22re? Then of course i would have to run a divorced t-case? any ideas thanks?  :gap:

that would be a R151   bellhousing,   but the 154  has  a hi first gear 3.67 i think,  kinda crappy for a 4x4

its not  hard  to locate a  w56  with tcase

i dont think the first gear of 3.67 is that bad...

but i also dont see why you would use the supra tranny that needs a lot of work running divorced and intermediate driveshafts and all of that, rather than a truck tranny that bolts a tcase to it...

L43 has a 3.67

L45, L50, L52, G52, G54, G58 have a 3.93

W56 a 3.95

R151F a 4.31

R150F a 3.83

I'm pretty sure it's even taller than that, like 3.54 or worse :headscratch:

Thanks for the info guys you all made me think twice about getting a R154 lol, i dont think its worth it now, i would be better off with a R150 or R150F instead, so all i need to bolt to any R series trans is a bellhousing from a R151F truck right, kool. I think will look into the R150 or R150F  :turtle3:

ok R150  and R150F  both have chain drive tcases,  what you want is gear driven cases,  so stick with either a W56  or a  R151,  both  bolt  to gear driven tcases

UNLESS  you need a  driverside drop tcase  then the R150 f  is what you need
