Well I am finally working on it again and watching what money I do have go into my rig. What I am doing now is replacing the W56 that is behind the 4.3L right now, with a 700r4. I had so many bellhousing and clutch issues that AA didn't try to resolve with me that i gave up and decided to just swap in an auto. Which in turn might save me the money of doing duals later on.

Completed As Of This Post:

• SAS w/ 1985 Toy Front ARB 4.88
• Custom Flat Bed
• 4.3L conversion
• 6" Lift
• 37" MTR's
• 1991 Rear w/ detroit, disk breaks and 4.88
• Auto swap w/ 700r4
• Bucket seat install

What I am Doing Right Now:

• Custom cross member
• Front winch bumper
• complete rebuild of front axle, 30 splines and so forth
• roll cage.... well maybe exo

I have the 700r4 with dauls and a 4.3 and love the setup.  It was good with a single, but really rocks with the duals   Gotta love that auto.....

Nice Toyota    Where are you located in CO?  I've been looking at options for more HP.  The 22RE just doesn't seem to cut it with big tires and steep mountain grades here in Colorado

Chinamans, BV Carnage, both near Buena Vista.  Penrose, Saran Wrap/ Eagle Rock west of CO Springs, Mt. Blanca south near the sand dunes.

Can you stop that ounce you put dual's our are you going to put 2-28's in both cases. I have an auto in
mine with one 4-7 case in it and have been thinking of duals but i'm scared i won't be able to stop it in the middle of a crawl. Been looking for some input haven't realy got any but i know people do it.

from what i have heard from people i have talked to that the rear case input shaft have sheered. As far as i am concerned that if you have an auto there is no need for  more than a 100 to 1 ratio.

And volcom i have been wanting to go over there since a family trip trough that area a couple years back. Black bear pass man, looks scarry but fun

Cool thats what i was wondering i've read that with the auto you get an even diferent ratio due to the mechanics of it but i wish it was lower sometimes.

well my new trans is in and it moved for the first time in a month. Lucky7 I have heard everything from 10:1 to 25:1 as what a person considers the torque converters multiplication to be.

Thanks Topar i had the option ofrunning a crawl box with the 300 behind it but i didnt want to spend the money to but it off this guy...  then again twin stick would be nice

Why don't you just twin stick the danna 300?  Thats what I did.  If I am saying it right.  I have front wheel drive, rear wheel drive and 4x4.

I have the doubler with stock 2.28's in both.  With the 4.37 gears it was hard to hold with the brakes.  I am in the process of putting dana 60's in with 7.17 gears.  Hoping that the bigger one ton brakes will hold.......

Well updates on what i have gotten done and i dont know when i will have pictures. The auto in and there are a few bugs i have to work out. My engine is studering occasionally and i don know why and the check engine light flickers so i have to work that out. Ran my exhaust and made my own y pipe and man did it turn out well i am really proud.

Still need to:
Hook the shifter up full
Wrap the exhaust.. to close for comfort to fuel lines
find some bucket seats
build a center console
rhino line my interior
and find money to pay for all this haha... tax refund time!!

thanks jud 350 weighs more and takes up to much room, plus its funny when there are people who look at your truck with no idea what they are talking about and say they never knew toyotas came with chevy vortecs. Man that was classic

Once you put buckets in use a ammo can for center consoul.  Thats what I did I will see if I can find a picture.

  Its not installed yet in that picture but it is between the seats behind the battery cut off switch which is behind the shifter.

sick truck. how hard was the 4.3 swap? also an estimated price of the swap? my 3.0 V6 is takin a dump on me. your truck looks about how i want mine too look when i get thru stage 1 or so. nice work!

well if you want to buy my swap parts $900 and find a good deal on an engine $450-$700 (look for a TBI 1992 and earlier, way easier to work on), howell or elsewhere wiring harness $500, Plus engine mounts, and other parts.... I would say a little over $2000 all new parts from AA prolly more $3000

And it is very easy howell harness is idiot proof and just get the weld in motor mounts

Now i just need the time to finish all this and drive her around more. PICS of the install when i make it home in a few weeks.

Those seats look nice  I am sure they are better than my hard plastic seats.
