I have 2 runners and had this problem with both of them.  It's the switch in the center console that goes bad and at least with mine, it was the down part of the switch that didn't work.

what I did was cut the plastic connectors off the switch and then use 2 bad switches next to each other.  The part of the switch that made the window go up worked on both so I just wired it so if you pushed the switch on the left the window goes up, if you pushed the switch on the right the window goes down.

I took out the window lock button and made room for the 2 switches next to each other in the center console.

much better than paying $82 for a new switch and it didn't cost anything.

It worked for me...

Which one? In the center console, or the one in the tailgate that the key goes in? Did you get the P/N?

In my runner, the window in back wouldn't go up or down with the key either.  i only use the switches in the center console now.

if someone has a used switch for sale for cheap, buy it.

unless you install a aftermarket harness, you need all the factory harness/sensors. i tried without, no workie. if you want, i have a good wiring harness i can sell you, it came from an 87 runner, and includes the whole gate, into the cab as well
