Holy crap!  I did my swap for about $100!  Id say that in all reality after you rebuild a front axle buy springs and either build or buy the crossmember and shackle tubes.  Oh yea steering as well  youd have about $1600 pretty easily.  Its really not that hard to do its just kinda time consuming.

Something you might look into doing is talking to a local colleges metal or automotive shop and see if it would be something that they would be interested in dooing.  There are so many instructions on how to do it that it would be hard to mess up. They would probably do it for for cheap or even free. Then do a write up and take alot of pictures to post on the board and tell the school shop class you will give them all the credit

If you have enough free time, then:

Practice makes perfect. Take a couple welding classes at your city college and play around with some steel before the prices get to high

Trial and error is a good way to learn how suspension theory and setups work, but just becareful you dont have something break while going 60 on the hwy.

Save money by doing it yourself, learn a whole lot in the process, and then build up your buddies rigs while your at it for some extra side change $$
