Topic: Trans leaks in roll over on 85' pickup

I rolled my truck and oil poured out of the shifter on the trans. Does anyone know what may cause this problem. I plan on rolling many more times. It makes a mess.

Reseal the shifter base with RTV.

they're really made  to run  with the wheels on the ground

Get a new boot for the shifters and make sure the thin tin plate is installed between the shifter and the tranny case. That plate will not stop it but it will slow it up. Most trannys also have a breather on top that oil can come out of, run a hose off of it like on the axle housings.

I think there is something missing. I heard that there is a plastic ring that is supposed to be under the shifter plat on the trans anyone know of that

If the plastic ring is missing your shifter will be real sloppy and sometimes hard to get it in gear. Marlin sell a heavy duty one and the plastic cup that goes on the bottom of the shifter. You can also get them from the dealer but they are not as good as the one Marlin sells.

There is no plastic ring. It was not that sloppy.
