CARB TUNING....
« on: Dec 13, 2007, 08:44:37 AM »
My 87 22r has white plugs....i've cleaned the carb, blocked the egr, new plugs and wires, and adjusted the valve clearance.  Should I go to a richer main jet? It seems slow to rev also?? any thoughts?

I think running raw propane over your hoses and if you have a vacuum leak it'll pull the propane in and cause the engine to rev a few RPM's???

yes.. I'm running mine a 8 degrees BTDC with the vacuum lines plugged. 900rpm. yours may be different. and when you hook up the vacuum lines your timing should advance. if  not it's broke or hooked up wrong.

you dont want any advance at an idle with the vacuum advance line unhooked. 8 degrees BTDC is the correct setting i believe. if you have a timing light just unhook the vacuum advance line, plug it, and make sure, with that line unhooked, that the timing mark doesnt move when you rev the motor...when you have that hose hooked up the mark should move in a steady matter when you rev the motor...that shows that the mechanical advance is "working"..if its advancing to the right setting im not sure about. you need a distributor tester for that :yesnod:
there are some more things to try
