Yesterday third gear popped out for the first time, and it has not worked since. Pops out as soon as I let the clutch out. Prior to this there has been no problems, and I have run MTL since I got the tranny.

Any ideas what might be causing this, or what to look for when I open it up?

Thanks

This is common on high mileage transmissions that have been run hard in first and third.
It is due in part to the side load that is generated from the helical cut gears.
The two most common causes are;
1. Excessive wear on the output shaft center bearing retainer plate.
2. Fork wear caused from excessive down shifting.

I have also seen excessive 3rd gear end play ect.
Remember to check end play and the mainshaft for wear as well.
I sell a heavy duty tool steel bearing retainer plate. It is found in the transmission section.

Thanks for your help. I was not able to find the retainer plate on your site, but It will be part of my order for a rebuild kit .

I will keep this on the net, in order to save you valuable time, unless you would rather have me call you.
Also, if there is a more appropriate forum for this process, please let me know.

My questions:

A: how much for a rebuild kit, what does it come with

B: how much for the new retainer plate

C: What else will I probably need, and how much$

Thanks in advance
