I ran the super heavy duty in my 85 truck with 33's and it was a little firm, but certainly not a problem.  I opted to try the heavy duty in my 89 4Runner with 35's and it is a little soft, but certainly not a problem.  I think I would choose the heavy duty with 33's and the super heavy duty with 35's.  Either way you'll be happy and the clutch will perform well.

i guess it depends on personal preference.... i had a centerforce dual friction before i got my marlin, lilled the cf in just over a year.... i dont drive nay doifferently now, and the marlin jsut felt better.... the cf was way to snappy and actually was the cause of snapping a tranny input shaft

i replaced it with the marlin 1600 and same above setup and put over a year on it with no adverse wear and its still holding up (engine is in a different truck now, but hasnt been run in the 4x4)

I could never understand how centerforce could justify asking so damn much for their clutches :shake:

they arent really meant for daily driving or offroad really, more racing and or towing.
thats why they are so stiff.
they actually fail easier if used in a daily driver.

I've been told that by many mechanics.

but 3-500 for a clutch kit?
thats ridiculous.

I'm not saying that Centerforce doesn't make a quality product, but I don't THINK their advertised "patented Centerforce centrifugal weights" are applicable to Toyota clutches.  Maybe someone knows for sure.  It doesn't make sense to spend BIG bucks for a product that doesn't have all of their technology.

I got the 1200# for my truck and it is awesome!  I almost wish I got the 1600#.   And I'm also running 30" tires right now!  And it engages and disengages better than my brother in laws factory clutch!  I got a friend that swears buy the CF clutches and the last two clutches he got were garbage and in less than 2 years on each one they literally destroyed themselves.

Remember that Marlin designed these clutches to be easy on the driver while rock climbing, but also to have some good street manners, while trying to stay close to the factory setup!

thats why i want a MC Clutch.
i wont ever buy a CF clutch. i have heard too many bad things about them.
and Marlin stands by his products. even if the buyer is the installer.
i dig that.

And your in luck too!!  All Marlins clutches are on sale too!!  Also, when you order, get the new clutch bolts too!  Just good insurance.  Follow Marlin's instructions on getting the flywheel resurfaced to a 0.026" step I believe!  Go to the clutch page, it gives alot of info on all this.

When I needed a clutch, I didnt even know MC offered clutches. There is no way I would pay 300 for a clutch though. If my CF takes a crap then I will get a MC clutch but I only paid $30 more for my dual friction than a MC clutch so I am not really worried.

Centerforce are good if you like a clutch that has acres of play in it so that you can't burn in out.  Mine felt almost like I had a CVT instead of a manual in first gear.

I got the heavy duty non-ceramic and I'm happy as a clam(or as happy as a clam can be?)  I've only burned it once in the last 4 months and I'm not very gentle with it.  Nice and snappy like a typical clutch in a sportscar.
