So is the install kit the same yukon kit that Marlin sells?

lilrichey85

I'm sure that it is the same kit but i will open it up and take a look at it today to be sure.  does anybody know of a thread that specifically shows how to build up the 3rd's?  I have searched some but no good results.

Well today I decided to go ahead and put new breathers on my diff's.  I used all parts from Ace Hardware too.  Cost less than 10 buck total.  I decided to use clear tubing for the ability yo see if it was clogged very easily, and it was cheap too.  This mod was super easy.  Took less than 15 mins including washing my hands after.

Nice, I used the exact same stuff to make mine. has worked great too, i use one of those mini K&N intake like filters at the end. I am about to re-do my rear breather set up and route it into the cab and attach it to my roll bar in the back.

Another thing you can do is use the original breather off the axle in the end of the tube. Did this on one of mine instead of the fiters again and it works great.

Have any of you used a one way valve instead.  so that if your in deep water it cant get in?  Or do you need to be able to pull air back in?

When the rear heats up, the oil and air inside the diff expands, and pushes out. when the oil/air cools, it contracts. If the breather is blocked either way, you will either blow oil out the seals, or draw water in past the seals. It is best for the breather to flow freely BOTH directions.
It ain't worth doin' if you don't have to clean up afterwards!

Build it, break it, fix it, repeat until your wallet is empty.

I'm routing the line for the front diff into the air cleaner, and routing the rear line into the cavity behind the taillight ass'y, with a filter.

Just remember to keep as much "fall" on the line as you can, to keep any oil buildup in the line from puddling up and blocking the line.

The front one I usually put up into the corner of the fender and firewall.
On this rig I did both front and rear (had a flatbed) under the hood with fuel filters.

The rear one I usually route up through the cavity behind the taillight and out the top though a hole towards the bed.

If it doesn't have a standard bed then I just try to get them up as high as possible like in the first pic..

Well it kind of went as planned.  I took the rear apart and had the 5.29's installed in it then put it all back to gether and it works great so far. I still need to do the front but im just kind of nervous about taking the front axle apart though.  Ive never done it and want to know the easiest way to pull the front axle aprat without taking everything apart.  Like the rear hopfully. Any help would be great.

Don't be skeered. If you wheel that thing enough, you will be tearing into the front end. even if it's just to do a Birfield.

I popped enough of 'em to finally go Bobby's.

I have write ups about my builds here, maybe it'll help.

If you mean easy by pulling less parts, the Camo method eliminates a few steps. But I like leaving the knuckles on.

Basically take the top steering arm off, loosen the bottom and the knuckle falls off with the caliper and hub and rotor all in one assembly. I think you still have to open the hub up and take the c-clip off.

That definitely sounds like the path id rather take.  Less parts that come apart the better.

Well I bought my High steer kit a few weeks ago and I finnaly have all the parts to complete the conversion.  I am wanderinf where exactly where to mount the Steering box mounts at though?  Can someone post some pics so that I can get a good idea before I start the install.  Also will I need to do any trimming anywhere to make the new gear box fit?
