Transfer case cooler help
« on: Dec 09, 2007, 03:53:11 AM »
I have an 88 4-runner with an auto trans with a SAS.  The transfer case cooler was mounted to the inside frame rail under the passengers seat right where the rear of the front spring mounts.  Does anyone know of any mods for this?  I found a relocate kit thru Downey but I heard they leak.

with all the rust and corrosion  you better have some new lines  handy when you try and move that

and yea  just unbolt the bracket from the frame,   drill a hole somewhere further back  and  use some self tapping bolts,

personally  i would  run that thing up front  and use a cooler from Summit Racing,

I am worreid that if I move it around too much it will start to leak.  I think the rust and corrosion is holding it together.  I thought about getting a new cooler and running it up by the radiator, but it's not cheap.

I like this set-up.  Maybe I will do this for now.

My Toyota is a 86 auto . Since I do not have A/C I was able to put a Fluidyne Extra Heavy Duty Transmission Cooler  up front behind the grill and used the cooling line going to my radiator to feed it. I bought of Ebay it cost $34.00 delivered. It seems to do the job for me.

Nothing puts a smlie on my face like the green glow of 4x4 on the dash !

Blocks less then an AC condenser does.

Check out the front of a CTD Dodge 2500 Ram, AC condenser, oil cooler, tranny cooler, intercooler, and radiator. Cools fine,

Nope did not notice any change in engine temprtutre, I had all the A/C condenser stuff up front but that before the cooler. the A/C will now be my onboard air.(Guess I should have stated  since I don't have A/C anymore)
