Just fyi, any wheel you buy is alloy.  All alloy means is a mixture of metals, which is going to be any wheel you buy since none of them are strong enough until mixed with something.

Aluminum probably isn't the best choice for rock crawling since it can get chewed up easier, but for fast off-road it's a great choice because aluminum can absorb more energy before deflecting, whereas steel will deflect sooner.  It's not like you need to worry a whole lot about spinning mass when you're creeping along the rocks :yupyup:

good point nate, but we both know what i was talking about ;) .....

jsut to clarify, i was refering to steel being primarily steel, and alloy meaning a primarily alluminum wheel

Since, this is a old post from three years ago, any new theories of the new aluminum wheels vs steel debate?
Am looking at Super Trucker wheels but heard complanints about them breaking,

Actually aluminum will deflect at a lower load then steel, but it will return to its shape.
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

I use steel with a weld on beed lock kit.

I have found that my steel wheels hold a the bead to the tire better than my alum. wheels do. But I am going to D.I.Y. bead locks on my steel wheels. About $200. I play mostly in the snow and run little to no PSI.
