not sure if i heard this right, but what is the deal on this? if your brake pads ever need replacing its free? you jsut have to do the work yourself? do they have extended service pads or is it jsut the light duty stuff?

looking into this for my ford xploder (heavy vehicle, puny brakes, and i drive hard)
and also for my yota

I heard this was somewhat of a scam...not sure how much truth to it there is....

what i :psss: HEARD is that the pads are inferior quality and very hard!

....so hard that the rotor will wear out before the pad and then u have to replace the rotor...

anyone else heard this? experienced?

ffc, i know that is what the website says.... i wanted to ask how it actually works and who has had experience with it

in today's world there are a lot of loopholes in warranties...

and dtb, what if you buy their rotors also? looks like their rotors have a 1,2, or 3 year warranty (well for the xploder application anyways)

i like autozone, and now that there are more and more around, i would buy from them. they also have a rewards program with make a purchase over $20 and each time you do, you get a point on your card and they give you a $20 gift certificatte or something

an extremely biased source

see i went to the source thats why i wanted personal views... i know what autozone says about their product....

this isnt a case of if they say it it must be true... just like you are innocent until proven guilty, but you sit in a jail cell until trial... what if you are actually proven innocent, then you just sat in jail for nothing and with no recourse.....

here how it goes,  99%  of the people that get those  brake shoes  dont keep the receipt, or  trade the car off before  the pads wear out,  both void the warranty,  you must have the original receipt and  be your name  and  correct phone number  on there receipt

and i go through brakes every 6 months.....

also it says no offroading or abuse... haha, i don't do that, so i'm good ;)

I never have a problem with my local Autozone. They always warranty my parts with out a receipt. They enter my phone number, scroll down the page until they find the part I am needing and give me a new one.
I can't speak for all autozone's but one of the best things about the one I go to is they have their comp screen facing to where I can see it. It helps me make sure I am getting the right part, I can see when the computer is asking them questions like carb or efi, 4 or 2 wheel drive, diameter of the drums etc.
If I get home with the wrong part it is as much my fault as it is theirs. From where I live it is a 30 mile trip I don't like getting the wrong part.
As far as the quality of the parts, it is generally good. Several times I have ordered parts from them and received OEM parts. I purchased the igniter for my Toyota from them it came in a Wells box but is a genuine Toy part, my Mustang headlight switch had the Ford emblem under the Wells sticker. My igniter was about 150.00 less than the dealer wanted.
By the way I run autozone pads and shoes on my Toyota and have had good luck with them.

jimbo74

i got a dpfe from them, it was a wells brand.... this was recommended by a ford guru that i know... he said the wells was actually better than the oe unit, and well was probably the oe anyways, as the design had been redone due to the originals have rfi

Front pads cost around 20 bucks and the rear shoes are around 15. I don't need no stinking lifetime warranty. :shake:

I totally agree. I only buy important stuff from Toyota or NAPA. I have had too many problems with Autozone, especially when it comes to fords. The Checker here has a bunch of stupid high school dropouts working at it, so I never go there. I have friends that work at Autozone though, so if I ever have a problem with parts from there it is real easy to get "new" stuff for free. A word of advice is to always befriend the local parts store workers, that way you get all the good deals. :twocents:

6 months sounds like abuse to me :dunno:  I don't care if you do drive 400 miles a week, brake pads should last a lot longer than that.

6 months was probably a little imbelished, i honestly get probably a year or so, i do drive hard though, but it just seems i replace them a lot, i jsut wnated to know how their warranty system works. i am also looking into running a group 65 ford battery with 1000 cranking amps into my toyota, i like overkill

if you want a good warranty program, go to firestone.  My dad bought a lifetime deal on his brakes for his van, his car, and his tahoe.  I don't know how much it cost (300 I think, for each vehicle)  When he needs new brakes, he just has to take in the paperwork, and they do it for him

:yesnod:  He got that one too.  Got them at the same time I think, believe they were offering a special deal for both of them.  I looked into it for my toy, but they won't do it if its got tires x amount bigger than stock.  He got it prolly 3 years ago now, and I know he's gone for a 2nd set on the car already, and I think his van too.

I thought everyone knew about this lifetime warranty stuff?? I always get everything I replace lifetime warranty. If it went out once it proably will again so why not its usually only 50 bucks or so more. If they put your name in the system and the pads you return for a core are the ones they warranty then they will. only down side is you usually have to bring that part in and replace it meaning you wont have that care to drive.
