My girlfriend's Toyota project:
« on: Oct 28, 2007, 01:22:32 AM »
Hello.

Here in Norway my girlfriend    has startes a new projekt.
It is a HiLux 1986. Next season she will use the truck in the Norwegian version of rock crawling called Car Trial.
In Norway we have 6 classes, and she will race in the Light Truck class.
The frame and body must be orginal, but you can make your own bed.

We will use the orginal 2.4l diesel , put in a 4.70 Marlin kit, use Nissan Patrol GR insted of the weak Toyota aksles :smack: and Maxxiz Creapy Crawler 37X14.5X15 on beadlock rims.
And of course a full cage.

Here are a few pics:

This week the lift kit, crawler kit :turtle: and some other parts will arrive from BG Nor. And we take a trip to Denmark to pick up the tires, beadlocs and the Nissan parts in desember.

Don`t you want to make an engine swap? The 2L ist very  I put in a 1KZT with enough torque.

Btw nice cage!

The Nissan axles has the same with as Landcruiser 60.
They are realy beafy, and they have a manual locker in the rear. They also have disks on the rear axle. But, they are heavy....
We can buy a set in Denmark for less than a set of Longfields cost.
Yes, the engine is lasy. But it runs

Here are a "Jeep" i build last year, here you can see the front Nissan axle. I used the orginal Nissan 2 link up front and the 4 link back.
In her class Light truck we must use the orginal suspension.

Yes, from Patrol Gr 60. There are also Patrol Gu 60, but they are harder to find. They are stronger.
They have a 4.56 gearing.

Cool. Sounds like a pretty stout axle then. If you can ever got some shots of modified nissan patrols I would love to see em. We only got the Patrol in the states for a few years back in the 60s. I would love to see some modified ones though if you ever find any pictures.  :yesnod:

Now the cage is done, and tomorrow we give it som paint. On sunday we take it to a local area where it's leagal to drive offroad. She wan't to test it before we do the rest of the work on the rig.
The next job is to install the crawler kit from Marlin. Exciting :help:, never done a job on a gear box before :nerv:
But, theres a first for everything  ???

Lot of inspirastion on this forum, wish we could send us and some of our rigs over to you someday. A trip to Moab could be cool.
Maybe we win in a lottery somthime :ha_ha: :ha_ha: :ha_ha: :ha_ha: :ha_ha: :ha_ha:
