Any updates on the video system. I was thinking about mounting the camera forward. I seem to get hung up on the front diff more than the rear. :dunno:

I did test the camera a bit more this weekend....It helped me out a couple times getting stumps between my tires and rear diff....also, you it makes it easier to get over big logs as you can see when your tires start slipping. Also helped in some rockgardens when I would forget where the rocks were under the truck

Most of the time I FORGOT I had the damn thing and later, I'd remember....Just not used to wheeling with it yet..gimmicky? maybe....but it is handy in certain situations. Still seems to be functioning fine after snow, mud, and rocks on the trail....

I will keep updating this thread with reports

I bet two - one for the front wheels and one for the rear certainly would have doing the Con much easier.  As for proofing it versus the elements, maybe a small plastic project box from Radio shack?  Cut out a hole in the metal top and put in a piece of plexiglass or tempered glass in there.

Oh - that box also would be large enough to put a couple of leds to light the rear diff/tires up at night.  The idea would be to put the leds facing out the BACK of the box towards the other one's view.

       Camera>>D<<light

So they don't blind themselves. :)

Not here. :dunno: Only saggy ones like Toyotas. :ha_ha:

I wonder if this system could be set up with two cameras and one video screen? You could view the passenger front and the rear diff and maybe have a toggle switch to flip between the two. :headscratch:

I believe you can buy spare cameras and they are run of vehicles power so if you riged a toggle switch to each you should be able to easily switch from one to another!

thats tight, I actually think it is a good idea, and :pokinit: if it works for like only 4 trips and saves your ass, then money well spent. Better than fixin something major or even minor on a yota. Ya some parts are cheap but I would rather replace some little 80 dollar camera then a dl or who knows what. Keep the updates commin!

The origional setup is like 100bucks but the replacement cameras that I saw were only like 15 20 bucks, so even better!

I have been looking for the larger screen ones that are sealed for outside use,  I found some 5 and 7 inch screens but their quite pricy!   I  think it would be cool to run about 4 of the cameras underneath.   one front bumper one rear and one mouted each way on the belly so you can see what headin towards the diff if you need to.

That's why I suggested a few power tools and those ABS project boxes from Radio Shack.  Put a little aquarium sealant on them and short of high-siding on top of the box, it's not going to get destroyed.

$5 solution :)

Pretty sick.
Id have to point it towards my pasenger front tire, thats the one that always seems to screw me...
Im surprised its lasted, i know some people that have bought ones like these, and had major issues with the cheap plastic..

How bright are those led rocklights? ive been debating between regular or led for awhile...
brightness being the main problem...
