5.29 setup shim thickness

Hi guys, a friend of mine is swapping my standard gears for 5.29 gears and there's 5 mm gap between the pinion and the bearing.
Does anybody know if the gap is tolerable? What is the nominal setup shim thickness for that?

Man I had you a whole set of directions on how to set up your gears, but then I timed out and they wouldn't post. I lost everything.

Bottom line. You need the bearing pressed all the way on, with proper shims.

The only thing between the pinion and the bearings should be shims  and I like to use a old crush sleeve and plates on my little harbor frieght press to press the pinion bearing on.  A good way to save your self alot of time is to take the old pinion bearing and hone it out so it just slides on to the pinion so you can set your pinion depth. And I seen this on a T.V. show once and it worked for them, if you don't have a press to put the good bearings on, you steal the wifes waffle cooker and put your bearings on that while you set everything else up. The heat will expand the metal and the bearings should slide on with ease  anynore Q's post up
