I ordered a speedometer extension  and a front U-bolt flip from marlin.  Now my speedo will work and i won't hit my u-bolts, yeeehaaa.  So i am picking up a welder next saturday.  It's a Linclon SP-100 with, leads, cart, and mask.  For $250, what do you people think?  Good thing to start out with?  An i needs some opinions on a rear bumper a friend and i will be making for my truck.  here is the pic.  Sides made out of 2x3 i think 1/4 inch.  Back made of 2x2 .188 wall i think.  And the baces are 2 inch round .188 wall.  It will use either 4 or 6 bolts to the frame.   Watcha think?

That should work out nicely.  Of course you have to post pics when its done, but you knew that already didnt you. :)

Already bent lol.  I go to a steel shop and they let me grab what ever i need outa the scrap pile.  All the metal for the rear bumper was in the pile.  Lucky i grabbed it before someone else did.

I had a smittybuilt before.  Today i cut the bed and i still have a little more trimming to do and a lot of grinding.  Here it is now.

Finnished cutting and grinding today, started on the bumper but didn't get very far when the welder decided not to work right.  O well, we will do more tomarrow.  I also mounted my miscence plate on my tailgate.

Done with the cutting and grinding.  started to weld the bumer today but then the welder decided not to work right.  Also mounted my liscence plate on my tailgate.

I am picking up the welder on saturday so i can start welding it together at home.  Don't have to wait for the welders at school to be open.

is it an AC welder

or a AC/DC.  AC/DC is a much better unit to have. I.M.H.O.

I don't know.  I am buying it from my uncle and i don't think he would sell me something that i couldn't use or wasn't good.  I will find out when i go to pick it up.

I got my speedometer extension and my U-bolt flip.  Are shims on the front leaves eligal?  I hered they were.  That it whats is making it so i can't put on my u-bolts also.  I think i messed up lol.  I went wheeling too soon without my rear bumper done.  4-wheeling i na friends creek and smash a tail tight and almost roll it.  The tail light was the only thing stopping my truck from rolling on it side.  ony pictures i got.

Degree shims are not illegal on the front but blocks are  :dunno: , I personally have had problems with shims splitting on me. And yes the U-bolts were tight. A better way to degree you front axle is lower you front spring perch but that may increase you left up front to get the degree you need,

I will eventually put a 2x6 peice of metal to drop the front hangers. But i will have to do high steer to be able to steer or my drag link will hit the 2x6.  My welder has been working fine so far, welded my front drain plug in so it doesn't fall out.  Did a little bit of welding on my rear bumper, what i could do today.  Here are the latest pics of the bumper.  Angle iron on both sides of the frame. Welded the plate on the angle iron after i got home from school today.

I put my pass. side flip kit on today.  I had to take off the shims, steers the same to me.  The drivers side stock u bolts stripped as i was getting them on there.  I have 2 replacements already but i am mad becasue it told us a lot of time to put them on.  Tomarrow i will replace the bolts and hopefully do a little more on my rear bumper.  BTW i can't put my drivers side flip kit on becasue od my drop drag link, it gets in the way.  But i have it anyway when i got highsteer.

Hyena

Got a lot done on the bumper today.  both sides are done.  Just have to do the rear.

I thought about it.  It won't hit the rock that bad becasue of the tire and the fender, it is pretty close to being lined up with the fender.  I used my welder on it and did most of the welding on saturday.  Still learning how to use it with the right penitration and wire feed.   :flamer:  Thanx for the opinion

brainlessfool

wire feed?? you useing a mig?
