I wonder if it makes mine so gutless because I have them on the front and none on the rear.  My bed is bobbed, I don't have a toolbox or spare tire or anything to add weight back there, either.

Nice pics folks.

I've got them in the front, and no rears   like I said before, No big deal.  You are dead on with the weight though.  I run all over the place with a full truck box (60-80lbs. prolly) and a rocket box for my spare axles and stuff (another 30-40lbs). I did have one incident coming over from incline village to truckee on 267 in a snowstorm where my :moon: end decided it'd be a good idea to pass on the left. :yikes:  as soon as I hit truckee, I pushed my two boxes  to the tailgate, and strapped them against it.  No more problems after that.

OH wow I"m WAY behind on this one...

Yes I did the 'Con with no shocks... no gears too :disturbed:

And I think we all agree, you should never do that again  :disturbed:

I have 63" chevy springs and i was running no shocks for about 3 days. it felt lik i had slinkies in the rear. i did wheel with no front shocks becuz of travel issues with no hoops and 8" shocks. althought with a stock slip joint and 5"inch marlins i had to put my driveline back together a few times. :gap:

Talk about no weight it was my Samurai I did it in, had the shocks finished in the front but didn't get the rears on. That thing was sooooooo bouncy. :bounce:
I ran no shocks in my stock willys, but it had no weight either, it bounced but not uncontrollably, and actually made for a much more comfy ride...  But it worked alot better when I had  it filled with people, or sometimes tractor weights...

weight does make a huge difference. i just have all my gear and spare in the bed the front on yotas do pretty well. I inboarded my rear shocks so the travel is great. the front on my truck act lik a bumb stop and drop limiter for my short slipjiont.

When I did the lift on my Runner I didn't have shocks in the rear. That was a bouncy ride. It was scary to drive. It would bounce enough to unload the 63's & double shackle in the rear  :yikes:

X2 except I didnt have front shocks either. For about a week I drove around town and pretended I had bags because if I pumped the brakes my truck would do the boat-rock. Got a kick out of it for a week but after putting shocks on (and driving on the freeway) I am glad to have them. It can be done but I much prefer having shocks. The bounce offroad wasnt pleasnt either but I know a lot of people that dont run them (ie half this thread  :gap:) and they are just as happy without em. All depends, I DD my truck so I prefer to have shocks. weight makes a big difference too my truck is a lot heavier now in the rear and I think the shocks are worth having.

I'm thinking no :dunno:  Since he agreed with Tallchevy on not having them in the rear

I'm not running them because I haven't gotten around to replacing the shock mounts that I ripped out 3 years ago :gap:

the shock mounts on the axle?

Not the original ones.  I had my shocks in the /\ position.  first I broke one on the crossmember under the bed, patched that, and put a bolt through it.  then I broke the mount on the axle on the otherside, and bent the crap outta the shock.  Finally, the shock on the first mount that broke froze up, and ripped the mount off on the axle as well.  So yeah, the two bottom mounts, and one of the top.  When I fix it, I'm gonna mount the bottoms on top of the axle, instead of the front.  I'll put in a new crossmember so the top mounts are stronger as well.

when u get the rear ubolt flip kit that brings up the need for shock mounts on the axle. and i am using 14" travel shocks and with the same angles u are (were) using. i welded to bolts right next to each other on a crossmember i put in also. my shocks are completely triangulated and they work great that way  i only use about 4 "s of drop and 3" of compression so i have no chances of bottoming out. and my truck is a DD and they were great on the road :yesnod:

im running chevys in the rear. 5" inch springs make my truck look big because im running 33 mtrs. im using 12"ers in the front with stocks towers. they were lik bumpstops and drop limiters because i dont have a longer slipjoint yet. they work good tho
