I don't have any friends who know how to help out!

This is interesting and I wanted to ask everyone a question:

Do you get stuff finished quicker if you have a friend around, or does it take longer?

Usually faster with one of my friends because he is real impatient, however with OldYellerCJ we seem to sit around and plan a lot.

I don't know how many mechanics are on here, but from my experience, I really dislike when the owner of the vehicle I am repairing hangs around and puts his nose in my work. I have an unorthodox work style, but it produces a clean job that will never return on me. I am sure it is just me over evaluating the situation, but I typically choose to work alone than with a friend or group. Unless the friend is highly experienced/knowledgeable, then I usually never get anything done when someone is around.

I love working deep into the night after everyone has gone home and its just me and my rig. Sometimes Top Tracks on XM radio is good to me, other times, not so good. :gap:

Big Mike, I used to have a problem with an audience while wrenching, sometimes due to the so called experts who show up, sometimes because the lack of trust of others and their workmanship and just because I like to cuss on my own time!   B U T  that all changed with my age and the birth of my kids, who in their innocence and persistence have taught me patience for the 'whats that' questions, the desire to teach the kids the fun of wrenching and wheeling and the time spent together.
So give it time you my acquire patience and at the same time motivation!

I absolutely HATE having people look over my shoulder while I'm working, but some of that is probably due to the social anxieties too :shudder:  Kinda hard in my line of work to not have somebody looking over your shoulder though :shake:

Hey Mike you and I are alike!  I've done most of my work late in the afternoon, after the kids and and everybody are basically headed to bed.  But there are times when I wish I had and extra hand to help assist when you don't have the third hand!

If you don't get your truck running, there is always Dean's!?  I can't think of a better back up rig if needed!  LaDawna was talking that if she knew how to use all the levers and switches, she would go on the roundup.  I think it would be a fitting tribute to Dean!   :dunno:  It was just a thought!

Typical Mike post.  Just enough once a year to tease us about his truck.   :rofl2:

At one time Mike was the posting god (sleeper) on work about his truck.

Oh boy.............. I need some motivation.

Started putting this 4runner body on in oct. 2008!!  ::)  Did everthing I could do without spending money on it...
It' still sitting in the garage unfinished.  :rivers:

all i want is a little more than i'll ever get!!

wakkjobb

Crap... I was getting pissed at myself for having a dead engine since September; and Mike's OBA dealie has been waiting for almost 4 years! I'll be quiet and go away now...  :outtahere:

I too have a "forever" project, a 1967 Chevy K10 (half-ton 4x4).  The engine finally got paid off last month (after 2+ years) and is resting in my shop. The rest of the truck, however, is a whole 'nother can of worms. Basically it's the cab and frame sitting on '88 Chevy axles now; at least the rust is repaired. It'll get done... I guess maybe someday kinda when I get 'round to it after Hell freezes over and all that.  :blah:
