you need a basic design drawn out. do you want a tool box? another fuel tank, do you want air tanks mounted in the bed, etc. will you incorporate an exo cage, yada yada. after you have the basic design drawn out, (and dont forget about your stock fuel tank hose, i did that the 1st bed i helped make lol) then you start looking at what you want to make the bed out of. diamond plate, plate steel, plate steel covered in expanded metal, etc.

I copied mine (kind of) from the all pro design.
See videos... caution, they are large files. But it gives decent angles to view my design.

Back in ancient times (87 to 90) the "Auto Shop" on base had a welder and tube bender for rent (save some $$$$).  :twocents:

I went off of All Pro's and went through a 4x4 toyota owners mag and mixed matched designs that I liked.  Also have photos that show how we built my flat bed on my build page: http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=28797.140  Page 4 we start the bed but page 5 is where you start to see it comming together.  Hope this helps good luck.

Here's 3 good ones...i prefer a flatbed closer to stock, rather than a buggy style.

I would, but in the long run it's cheaper for me to get my own tools and not have to be in and out of there with an unfinished truck.... It's going to take me a while to do it all.. so i don't wanna store it there either
