Tire and wheel combo question
« on: Jul 22, 2007, 11:10:57 PM »
Hey folks,

Quick question. Does anyone have any complaints or problems by running 35x12.5x15 tires on 8" wheels?

Thanks

Some people run them as cheap bead locks but the center of the tire wears out faster  :twocents:

Never ran that combo before but it'll work out good,it'll keep your tires wrapped around the wheels real good,IOW you wont loose a bead that easy.

did so on my fullsize bronco for many years. it does not wear the center of the tire quicker unless you have too much air in them.

I've run 35x16's on a 8" wheel and 37x13 on an 8" wheel with no problems.

When setting the air pressure, find a puddle of water to drive through. When you can see the entire tread of the tire is touching the ground, you'll be good to go.

35x12.5s are actually easier on an 8" wheel than a 33x12.5 the tread has less leverage/angle to the beat seat....

i would definately run a 35x12.5 on an 8"

i mounted 33x12.5s on stock 15x6 toyota rims on a shortbox first gen truck, and was able to see the customer come back several times, he never had any issues with irregular tread wear

Are you going to use these on the street or just trail? Radial or bias tires? I've seen what happens to 12.5 on an 8" wheel but the guy was running full tire pressure. It wears out the center. Like Mini said, the air pressure will makes the difference. On the trail you'll be good but on the street you will have to run a lower tire pressure to get the tread to wear more even. You will show a decrease in fuel mileage due to the more rolling resistance but if fuel mileage doesn't matter then run them on a 8" wheel.
