Toyota Tundra Video Fun
« on: Jul 18, 2007, 05:56:30 PM »
I am trying to find the commercial of the new Tundra pulling what looks like a C-train or some shipping container from a freehang off of the side of a cliff. If anyone has this video on youtube or google video, link it up brotha :beerchug:

So I wonder how the last body style of tundra would have done on the pull test with the F150.  :dunno:
Anybody have a ford they want to hook up to my tundra.  :eyebrow:

if you listen to that video the guys say afterwards that the f-150 is the v6 model.  i aint a ford man, but at least make the competition fair, give the ford a v10 or something.

Well Ford is getting pretty dang scared for sure.

If you look over YouTube you can find many videos from Ford comparing their F150 to the new Tundra. They are really slamming the Tundra.

Do any of them really compare to the Toyota in overall performance and reliability/durability?

Did you guys see this Tundra bed video from Ford?

Note, the Ford is 4WD whereas the Toy and Chevy are a 2WD version, and the Chevy has the Z71 offroad package, which would explain why it has stiffer suspension. I wonder how the 4WD TRD Tundra version does in this test?

BigMike - you got the video of the Tacoma a few years ago that played during the Superbowl... it was of the Tacoma being completely submerged in the ocean, and then drive away when the tide went back down.... you know what i'm talking about???

i think that test was just a LITTLE bit biased, dont you? chevy 1500HD (2500 basicly) with Z71 package so stiff rear suspension, f150 4x4 that has very few leaves per spring pack (maybe they come that way???), and commenting about the bed movement on the tundra. and they call it a durability test. :headshake: heres a good durability test, load up a couple hundred pounds of equipment into the bed of the truck (and have all 3 trucks the same platform), and drive them up/down the same track until something breaks. thats like what ford did on their 1 ton dually test vehicle in the diesel competition, they put 4.56 gears in the axle whereas gm and dodge only come with 3.73 in the diesels. who won? with no weight behind it, the cummins was the fastest. with weight (both on flat terrain and up an 8% incline over a large distance) the gm duramax. where was ford? back of the pack on all tests, even with changing their axle gears.

When will the 1-ton Toyota diesel gonna come out to compete with all the other diesels, I would defintally be waiting for the toyota to come out, I hope they can make it better diesel mileage than the others and more torque than the rest.  I'd get one in a heartbeat!

Heavy Duty Diesel

"Toyota Motor Corporation has been eyeing the Ford F-250, and Ford F-350 market for a while now, and they have announced that when the Tundra half-ton sales hit 200,000 units per year they will start production of a Tundra diesel. It may be called the Tundra 2500 and the Tundra 3500. It is speculated that Toyota will use a 6.4 liter V10 diesel that will produce anywhere from 380-420 horsepower and around 750 pound feet of torque. Motor Trend, and Car and Driver magazines have reported that production for a heavy-duty Tundra will start anywhere from late 2008 to 2010."
