?'s for the 1ton guys
« on: Jul 17, 2007, 11:09:45 PM »
Anyone out there run 1tons or even full size axles on there DD? If so how wide are your axles and tires? what kind or rims do you run?  how far do you tires stick out past the fender on your rig? i have a first gen short bed that i want to put some 60s under. But this rig is my DD as well. and here in  CA the cops dont like really wide trucks. i have seen a few pics of toyotas with full size under them. and it looks like they run some 35x10 or 35x12 tires.  any info will help. pics too if ya got. thank you.

I run 1 tons, on the trail only.

seem's like you'd have a pretty wide mud flap to cover those tires.

good luck.

A GM front 60 is 69" WMS-WMS. With a 13" wide tire (MTRs, IROCS, etc.) on an 8" wheel w/ 3.5" of BS, you'd end up @ 83" outside of bulge to outside of bulge. I've seen guys running around with this combo on the street and they run wide flaps. Though this USUALLY works, the law says the tire must be COVERED, not just on the back side.

thanks for the info. What if i wanted to shave my 60s down a bit. Who makes custom length axles? I want a lil wider stance but dont want to run a supa wide tire or a big wheel spacer. also i have heard that a stock 60 axles can mate up with a toy 3rd. and you could make a hybrid axle.i was told that this can add a few inches to your stance? i searched it an read a few things but cant find anything on how to do it.can this be done for the rear axle as well? i have built axles for tractors before so i kinda know what it take to build an axles. i just need the hard info on this hybrid axle.
