44044's Question.
« on: Apr 16, 2004, 10:16:33 AM »
Ok gents, I am think of switching to these springs up front on my Runner and would like to know what kind of mods I will have to do in order to run these. I know that I will have to level out my spring perches, but will I have to move my front spring perch forward? And does anyone know what kind of center pin off set you can get with these? Thanks guys   And whats the cheapest place to get these

The springs move your axle forward an inch by themselves if I remember right. Summit is about the cheapest place for them right now.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Yep, got mine from Summit for $250 shipped. You'll have to make a new front hanger or spread stock hanger for these springs, the front eyes on 44044's are 3" wide and Toys are 2 3/4", rear are the same though 2 3/4".

Its not really the spring that is wider its the poly bushing thats just a smidge wider in the front.

So when you make a new spring hanger up front, do you have to touch the rear shackle mount?  And can you run 35" tires with just the 44044's with a new front hanger w/ no shackles or blocks?

the 44044's are ranchos 2.5'' lift spring for a jeep wagoneer.  the center pin is at 22.5 off the front eye(same as stock toy fronts) but the spring has a lot of arch in it so the axle is forward a bit at ride height, but moves back when compressed flat...  theyre pretty darn tall and lift most toys like 5 inches or so. you dont need a drop hanger or anything unless you like nose bleeds from the high altitude :moon: theyre too tall, id put the bottom 3 44044's under some toy rear mains and build a little drop hanger with some beefy spring hangers....

I am running these under the front of my 90 4-runner. I pulled one leaf & it still sits high. They do flex well.

What leaf did you pull out? And what motor do you have in it?

I think we pulled the second or 3rd leaf from the bottom. I have a 22re in it now. A 4.3 will be going in sometime this year.

I did a slight drop hanger (use jeep hangers since that is what the springs are made for)

I easily run 37's with a 2" BB and a fair amount of fender trim..

So what is the best way to match up these 44044's with some rear springs so you got a level ride ?

They are kinda stiff for my taste. I would recommend All Pro/Marlin springs instead. But for the rear I would look into Some 4in Marlin/All Pro. They will match your height.

thanks pathy, I'm trying to do the best for the cheapest. I have an in with rancho so the 44044's would be maybe close to half off or free. I want to know if it will work well with the rear main and some 44044 springs together up front with the stock spring hanger and some boomerang shackles?? flex wise...

Yes. I did Marlin main and mixed 44044s works well. You will not need boom-a-rang shackles.

Mine are old, so I have around 3in. But newer springs will give you 4in.
