Have you ever got in a fight over Marlin Crawler?????

The other day i was pumping gas at the gas station off base and noticed the dude next to me staring me down... so i ignored him and went on doing my thing.... Minute's later him and his buddy came up to me (as i was finishing) and told me that Marlin Crawler is f@#king and that yotatech is way better with way more info than the Marlin Crawler Forum.....

At this time i was quite surprised to hear someone come up to me and make such a statment.... Well, keeping my cool was easy, cause i looked over at his 2nd Gen and started  at it (which he saw), and the proceded to tell him that he was an idiot and why....

me - "dude, if you would have learned anything from yotatech, then you should have learned that block's are horrible for trucks.... that and you should start working on your 2nd gen to make her look cleaner..."

him - " for one, it's a third gen... and two, i need em for the clearance of my tire's... plus, i could woop your yota's @$$ with mine, HAHAHA!!!!"

me - " ok, if you wanna have your truck break down on you all the time and always have to worry about your block's comming loose on you , then so be it.... but you should really relized that your truck is a 2nd Gen.... that and you spelled the word tire wrong on your windshield sticker"  (he put walmart lettering on his windshield)

him - " see, i told you those Marlin Crawler F@GS where stupider than a box's of rocks.....hahhaha" (he said that to his friend)

friend - " your a f#@king idiot, you don't know what your f#@k your talking about, your piece of $hit looks like  $hit, hahaha.... it's like three color's...." This is when they started getting up in my face...

me- " if ya'll want to start $hit over me being a member of a forum where retards don't go, then be for-warned that i don't take lightly to that.... more off, don't ever talk about my toyota like that again.. although it may not have a $hitty lift like your's is attempting to do, it would walk all over and wheel better than you would ever imagine (sp).... so back the f#@k up....."

This is the funny part.... just before the both of them wanted to jump me.... a cop came over and asked what the problem was, and i told him i was being harrased for no reason....then another individual walked over and stated the same thing. The cop told the two to go away before they got arrested, and they did.. only to have there truck break down while trying to leave the gas station.

When they left and the cop did, the same guy came over and told me he buys MC stuff, and that he was about to fight em because of what they were saying, HAHAHA, i love it, HAHAHAHA.....

So how about it, has anyone ever dealt with anything like this before... i never knew there were such ignorant people out there

I've never heard of anyone confronting someone else over what message board they go to. Thats pretty sad. I would have just laughed and ignored em. I know yota tech is a joke and there would be nothing worth arguing about to those geeks. I guess we are living in the AGE OF THE BALLSY NERDS. I just can't believe someone actually insulted you over what MESSAGE BOARD you frequent. Its beyond my comprehension...

I have gotten in "fights" with one of my friends (he thinks he knows it all) over MC vs other companies...in particular TG. He told me once "Trail Gear is a respectable company" and I had to argue that one.

i've gotten hell for wheeling a full size and i've gotten hell for having an import. but never have i had a problem with people just because of the forum/parts i'm on/run.

Really, the only crap I've ever gotten on the trail was from a Toyota drive...I apparently didn't have a serious truck (it was IFS!). I've never had any trouble at all from Jeeple except for giggin' each other.

I wouldn't have let it get that far.  My reply would have probably been "well, you have a right to that opinion" and just ignored them.  If they decided to get in my face I'd say VERY loudly, "are you really trying to fight me over the internet?".  Anything further would have resulted in them getting coated in gasoline and me asking the attendant if I have to pay for what I defended myself with.

Some of the local board members I occassionally wheel and deal with don't have issues with TG, but anybody who's been on this site for long knows I have some serious issues with that company.  I just don't discuss it with people unless they push it, then state as quickly as I can why I feel the way I do and let it go at that.  Some people value ethics in a company and some people only care about cost.  I'm poor enough to care about cost but pride keeps me away from shady deals.

2) Instead of telling them that they are retards, try to explain in a purely physical/mathematical/analytical manner why certain modifications on their truck (like the blocks) are not good (such as increases axle wrap which is hard on your pinion, leaf springs, shocks, etc). They will either pay attention to you, or, beings that they are punks, they will think you are a retard and the situation will escalate.

3) Just say "yeah ok" and turn away.

We all know that you can whoop him, so maybe in the future you might find those turds on the trail. What would you do if you saw them on the trail with a broken lift block? Would you offer some help?

Those are tough decisions to make............

The funny thing is, is both nate and you are the correct one's on the situation, i didn't hadnle it the best, but i do take personal comment's to my yota very personally... don't really know why, but i cherish what i have, wether (sp) it's got a bad a$$ lift or not.

The best situation possible would have been to walk away, and i didn't do that.... oh, and yes, i would lend a hand to them on the trial... it's would be up to them to take the help or not. Just because we might have had a previous confrentation, i am still willing to help ANY 4x4er

There are soo many ignorant people out there when it comes to who's better.  Buy from who you want.  You see it in all the forums that are related to the off road industry!  I'm sick of people starting posts about how you can't call into Marlin or they are always this or that!  I called Marlincrawler about a dozen times in the last couple weeks ordering stuff, and inquiring on the back order of throw out bearings, and I got through right away.  All the time I've called around the noon hours!  Only been on hold once, just long enough to almost figure out what 80's video game the hold music is from.  It's a cross of pac-man and something else!  I'm so sick of people that have to waste their breath trying get people to not buy from Marlin.  It just makes me want to buy everything from Marlin.  Just so I can say, "Marlin's products built my truck!"

I've been on this site long enough now, that I can look at a toyota and tell you what they did wrong!
