Square tubing for driveshaft's

I cant seem to find any 2.5 x 2.5 x .25 receiver hitch tubing out here in CT.  Does anyone know of any places to order some (i only need 2 feet or so, which is more than enough to make one, maybe even a spare).  I can find the 2 x 2 x.25 no problem, and it has the seam inside which does not matter, but the 2.5 tube needs to be smooth on the inside!

Any help on finding some!

Check at any welding or fabrication shop.

I have tried calling up some of the steel yards like logan steel, who is a big one out here, and no luck.  they dont even have any idea where to get it from.

I will be back on the phone this afternoon!  Oh, and Minisimp, great post on building your square d-shaft!  that is what i am using as my refrence!!!

I didnt see any 2.5 inch tubes, only the one adapter one!  I will give them a call and see if they have scrap or something like that!

Its the one they have listed as 2" receiver tube, its listed that way because it receives 2" hitch. But it measures 2.5 outside.

  that may be your problem, if you're asking for 2.5" reviever tubing.   

I find it hard to believe no one would have any.

I used the tubing with the seam for both the inner and outer tubes. I ground a tube into  the smaller tube for the seam to slide freely. I did have to grind just a little where the smaller tube was bent square in order for it to slide into the larger tube nice and smooth.

i didnt use seamless receiver tubing, just regular old 2.5" square tubing. i have had a problem yet. i dont see a need for the seamless, with all the play inside the shaft it shouldnt be an issue. thats my

this a relatively simple way to do it.....Me and Bluetoy have made several like this one and it only takes a few hours to complete
