OK, I have the money..... "The Kids Can Wear Hand me Downs" going to by a 13" long travel front for my 92 runner. Now we all think "Total Chaos"  BUT JD Fabrication makes a sweet setup, and you can run coil overs.... Anyone have any luck with these guys? Chaos, well it's Chaos, proven to work. Let me know. www.jdfabrication.com

Having gone the IFS route and dumping a lot of money into it trying to make it work, it is not worth the time & trouble. If you do any kind of serious wheeling you are much served going the solid axle route. It will end up being cheaper in the long run. The last straw was the the IFS mounting brakets bending at the frame where the A arms attached (with 33" tires).

Ifs has its place off road..My tacoma if a far better machine in the mud then my runner..The stuff stright axle rigs slow down for i throttle down on..Sand is also fun..Rocks would be fine if the axles would hold. The problem is the axles are weak..The chaos kit has a way of using tundra axles and thats a bounus..I didnt see anything at the jd wed site that had anything like that..Its worth looking into..If rock is all you wheel then I'd go sas..Both have pros and cons it just depneds wich side of the wheeling side your on..If I had to choose between the two kits I'd go chaos because of the tundra axles. The jd looks like a nice kit never the less..whats the cost diff between the two?

I had thought about a sold axel setup and I do some rock with the truck.... the problem is I like to go fast on the dirt, and you lose the road maners. We all know that a IFS truck drives better, and this truck is my daily driver "Last time I got pulled over the Cop ? Street Legal". I was also thinking of driving it in the stock class of some desert races... The JD kit allows for Coil overs, do I get that much from coil overs? or are the gas shocks better that Chaos uses?

Seeing what you will be doing, you probably will be better off with the IFS. I would strengthen your axle mounts to the frame with steel plate ( stop bending when you jump the truck) and not run over 33" tires. It looks as though they have taken care of the idler arm problem with this kit.

you can get coil overs with the chos kit as well..Like I said the chaos kit has a way to change over to tundra cv's and axles wich you will need..My ifs wheels great and awesome for high speed..Not the greatest on rocks but still fun...

i think the IFS vs SFA riding better is debatable.  my '79 with toasted leaf springs rides better than my '84 2wd with torsion bars did.  it's all in the suspension, though for something like desert running i'd prefer some kind of twin i-beam setup

coil overs ride better then a torsion anyday..sure how there set up makes a difference..but stock tacoma does not have a way to set the ride or hight like the old yota 2wd with torsion..
