I am really curious to know how much our pick ups and 4runners went for brand new between 79-88 or 84-89? I have a buddy who has a 85 pick up. Strait axle, efi, and every factory add on you can put in a truck. I mean it even has rear window defrost!!! I have never seen that before. It has lights in the glove box and ash tray, power windows and doors, sun roof! So many things it is crazy. His Grandpa bought it brand new in 86 but doesn't remember what he paid for it. So if anyone has a guess let me know. Thanks

I would probably say between $7500-$8500...My dad bought a 1980 4x4 short bed brand new in 1980,he had to wait a few weeks to get it but if I recall corectly he said he paid about $5500.I'll ask him later today to see exactly what he paid for it.I'll even try to dig up some pics of it,it had Armstrong tires on it with Jackman chrome spoke wheels on it with a single tube roll bar with 2 KC daylighters.

I have the original window sticker and sales contract for my Runner from 85 (I'm the 2nd owner). I'll try to remember to take a picture of it. I believe it listed at $9,500 and then the dealer added the costs of the conversion (adding the back seat and carpet) so the total was just over 10K. I believe the first owner paid full price. :lipsrsealed:

I bought my first new car as a senior in high school in 86, a Toyota 2wd. It was white with the tan interior and it had an "American" bed on it. I paid $4,750 for it and my payment was around $125 per month. :king:

When they switched over to IFS in 86 there was a big demand for the new model. Everybody wanted the IFS rigs because they drove much smother on the street and at high speed on the fire roads. I remember a few guys that had 84s and 85s that regretted not waiting for the new model. I would guess your Gramp's 86 was a loaded SR5 that sold for 9 to 10K new. :twocents:

When my dad bought my crawler new in late 84, He paid $8K. This was for a 1985 base model std cab, short bed, carb, power nothing, bench seat, Actually the only option on it was a chrome rear bumper.  :gap: He gave it to me with 290K about 8 years ago, That old carbed motor was still kicking the day it was pulled in favor of a DOA efi motor. It never even had the head off. I think he went throught 1 rear end, 1 transmission, timing chains done once, and it was on its third bench seat when i got it.  :gap: To this day he says it was the best 8K he ever spent.  And to think he almost bought a Izusu Trooper instead.  :yikes:

I just dug up the old carfax on my 85 and it didn't really have any data prior to 2001, so no new purch price or anything.  Would probably depend on what states it has been registered in and how much data those DMV's provide to carfax.

NT-OUTBACK

Check NADA it will tell you what MSRP is. You have to use classic values for older models 86 and down I think.
