Airtank, Powertank? Who's got what?

So my beadlocks have a slow leak and I'd like to have it on the trail for those rare (hopefully rare) occasion's I'd need to use it for airtools or just airing up a tire.

Those of you who have one what are you running?

Powertank, Home Brew or .... off brand? 

What works?  What doesn't?   Any info you can give would be great.

Also what can I expect to pay for an airtank?   $370 seems a bit steep for a powertank.

I tossed around the idea of building my own a few years back but never went through with it. For those of you who built your own, what did you use?  where did you get the parts (tank, regulator ect)   What was the overall cost?

I have been using Powertanks for about 4 or 5 years now. I think they work great. I like that they are SUPER Fast at airing up. 4WDTO mag. did a comparison about year ago.

yea I read that..

they air up a 35" tire in 10lb increments in about 40 seconds or so..

robrub has co2 tanks, but they aren't powertanks... he uses the industrial welding i think tanks... he has a powerflow regulator. hes got a steel tank and an aluminum tank, both are quite heavy though, i think his are 20 pounder, i think he got them pretty cheap, a lot cheaper than a powertank, he does use a power tank regulator though
the only drawback is there isn't a handle/gauge protector with his setup like the powertanks have

Eh.  The tanks are very nice.  But IME they do not fill up the tire faster than my OBA.  At least on a 35" tire.  (5-35psi ~ a minute for either)  My OBA is the stock toy AC pump. 

Putting it together is the cheapest, but you need to know someone in the biz to find used items for cheap.  If you find a used tank/regulator for cheap, that's the bulk of the cost.  If you can't find them cheap, you spend up to ~ 200 on those two pieces alone.

i got a powertank,and i really like it despite paying $350 for it.it will pay for it self in time.running power tools off it is really nice.fills my 36" tires from 8lbs.to 28lbs in 30 seconds with the stock hose.much better than my ARB compresser.It only cost's me $15 bucks to refill at the local paintball shop.
And after wheeling all my freinds want to use it which pays for my refills.
And i can refill all 4 tires about 5 times before it needs to be refilled.

wow, sounds pretty one sided. Powertank is the way to go.

Anyone used Poly Performances tank?   looks similar but its about 100 cheaper.

I have a tank from Poly Performance.  I have not had any issues and I've had for 2 years.  The only thing it doesn't have are gauges but I just go by how heavy it is to tell if it is empty or not.

i got an ultimate air. alwayzbroken recommended it to me. havent used it yet but it seems nice

Why would I need to check Ebay for their site when it says it right on the bottle of the picture you just posted?

I have a tank from Poly Performance.  I have not had any issues and I've had for 2 years.  The only thing it doesn't have are gauges but I just go by how heavy it is to tell if it is empty or not.

I could live without a guage for $174 as appose to $370

Luckily I have a buddy in the fire extinguisher business who got the tank for me for free.  The Poly Performance regulator was around $75 and their tank bracket was $30ish. $10 bucks for the Home Depot hose and chuck. $5 for the primer and paint.   From what I have read, the regulator and the bracket can be had for a lot less at a fire extinguisher shop. If you don't mind a heavy steel tank, Air Gas sells their used tanks fairly cheap and their refill price is reasonable.
