Wider doesn't always mean more traction offroad though. A lot of times, it takes unit pressure to get the tire to squish or key into the rock to get max traction
Big Mike - I saw that same Sami years ago at a Donner competition. Believe it or not he was the only one to make one of the obstacles. It was an extremely steep climb with a v-notch at the top.
i just think wide tires are but if thats what you like go for it.
