Allllrighty, so I am having a heck of a time finding a transmission for the 22re (5spd) and was curious how different, if any are the 5 spd transmissions out of the 3.0 v6.  I know the 3.4 trans is WAY different, but is the 3.0?

Figured the persons on Marlin would know best being that they build crawlers for all the rigs both 6 and 4 cyl and have adapters for all said.
Anyway, any input would be great and apreciated.

Actually, the only basic difference is the tail housing.

If you use a R150F 5-spd from a 3VZ-E 3.0 V6 4WD truck, then you will need an adapter to bolt your gear drive t/case back up, and you will also need a new 23-Spline Turbo input gear in order to use your gear drive t/case over again.

If you are only looking to replace just the transmission, then I think you are getting into wwaayy more then you are looking for. Just find a good used W56 transmission and get it swapped in! :_order:

easier said than done. :-D
Thank you for the help and answer though. That is the info I was looking for.

Anyone have a W-56 hanging around that is in good shape. Willing to pay up to $200 for it.

I dont have a W56 but have a Muncie M22 that is completely rebuilt w/ like $1200 in to it

The 3.0 and 3.4 manual transmissions are almost identical.

The R150H behind a 3.0 is much stronger, but as mentioned above, it's not gonna be an easy or cost effective swap.

The ideal tranny would be from the turbo trucks (code is R151H), but they are VERY tough to find.

.....R150H....R151H.....

I think you might be referring to the R150F and R151F (F denotes 4WD).

I agree that the R151F would be ideal, plus it has a 4.31 1st gear compared to the 3.83 in the R150F, but he would still need to come up with a 23-spline input and do some t/case work..
