So me and my wife are contemplating selling her Jetta and buying another Toyota

She wants a 2000 or newer 4x4 (of course) Tacoma 4cyl.

Things i'd prefer,

4 cylinder for gas consumption and gas prices
manual or auto really doesn't matter
cold A/C
4 wheel drive, its just not a TRUCK without!   :hahaha:
100k on the clock or less of course

Extra's I could really care less about... as long as its clean.

So what would you pay for a truck of this stature?

You could ask me for prices on anything from 79 to about 90'  above and beyond that i'm clueless.. lol

upon doing a little research i'm seeing 00's in the range of about $9-$10K

TIA,
Shamb

I paid about $15 for my 2001 4Runner with 80K on the shoes.
So, probably about 3G's less for a Taco :dunno:

lilbuddy

Ive been looking at Tacoms and most of them that were 2000 and up were 11-13K so that seems like the average price....
RIP Kyota.... you are the man

GET IT!!!

I think you're about right.  9-12 is what I've seen for the early 200(?)s  I haven't looked too deeply, so I can't say as far as mileage or anything.  I do know that you'll find a 5spd cheaper than an auto (more and more people can't drive them)

NO WAY!!

A 00 reg cab, 4cyl, 4x4, non-TRD Taco should be between $7K-$9K.
Add maybe $1000-$1500 for each year newer. 'Course mileage and condition plays a role.
Add about $1K-$1.5K for ext cab, add another $1K-$2K for V6.

I paid $14K for a 99 Reg cab 4x4 3RZ Non-TRD Manual in Jan 02 with 36K on the odo. I got taken and overpaid by $1500-$2000. (but it was my first ever dealer experience... :(...No vaseline, no kiss, no reach around...Just shafted!)
Bluebook is only $6500 last I checked (about 4 months ago), with 90K on it.

As to manual over auto, yes they are cheaper cause less people want them, THUS making it HARDER to find them. I looked at 5 or 6 with auto, and only found 2 that were 5spd. (This was back in early '02, also.)
I think most of the 4x4s came with A/C, PL, PWs.

I'd pay $9-11K.  I just bought a 98 4runner last fall with the 4cyl, 84,000 miles, for $8500.  My brother bought a '00 trd tacoma with the v6, and some rare paint (lunar mist metallic) for $14k about 2 years ago.

Buy this one, $8995, 85,300 miles, 4cyl manual, regular cab:

maybe you could get someone on the marlin board to go drive it for you.

Shamb

hudlenutz thats what i'm looking for.

Sucks that it's so far away, i'd rather drive it myself... (opinions vary!)  and i'm pretty picky.

well i'll be posting the car up tonight.

trade in value should be funny. When we go down to Roseville i'm going to ask just for laughs.

Typically I sale all my vehicles then use the cash twords my next purchase, make more money off the sale that way.

Trade in value is probably not even half KBB.

I like the idea of a factory e-locker but I'd imagine it wouldn't get any use so that doesn't thrill me very much. My 82's for offroad, everything else will stick to street use and dirt trails.

Hey shamb, if youre going to look in roseville, head down the road a bit farther, and hit Madison.  If you get off on Madison (coming from roseville) and go over the freeway, there is a small dealership about a mile or so in on the right hand side, about a 100yds past college oak/madison that always has a ton of  tacomas.  I've meant to stop there many a time, but always forget until I pass it :smack:

I know exactly where your talking about BD, i've been there before. ALOT of Taco's, they're a bit pricey but they've got some good deals sometimes.

I'm gonna plan on cruising down Vernon/Riverside as well and take a peak at all those used car dealers over there. We've bought two vehicles from that area so far with good luck.

 cool.  Let us know what you find :yesnod:  I'll actually be looking for a similar vehicle soon (I hope)  depending on my upcoming job testing.  I need a more reliable truck than the toy I've got now  :_oops:

good luck!
