j arm hitting u-bolts

i have a 85 yota with superlift 4 1/2 inch springs. my drop draglink is hitting my u-bolts.

is it possible to pull the ball off of the j arm and relocate it to the top? its my second j-arm because i thought the first one was bent but it was the same way. i have a u-bolt flip kit but if i put it on the nuts hit the drag link.

i know i could do cross over but cant afford it right now what are my other options?

your only option is to flip the ball,  but it requires a press

what direction does the ball press out? up towards the hood or down towards the axle? so i can press it out and is there a clip or anything that holds it in?

you could always go hysteer ;)


the ball is actually not removeable due to the way it was designed.... BUT check out this writeup and all will come to light

about how long does it take to relocate the ball?? i just dont want to start it if i cant get it done in time for work. im guessing about 2 to 2:30 hours by looking at the pics and taking my time.

an hour at the most, long as you have all that you need in front of you, and some mechanical ability.  Where are you? I have one flipped ready to go(spare) if you want to cover shipping, I'll trade you mine for yours.

It's up to you bro.  They aren't that hard to do, IMO.  If you want a shipping price, I'll weigh the arm tomorrow and check UPS.

i will just do it. it dont look that hard i make all my own stuff anyways why not a steering arm.

Call Bobby Long and see how much he would charge to do it for you.  When I purchase my axles from him he offered to do it for free when he was looking at my truck.  At a minimum he could provide some verbal direction I'm sure.

I ran the same springs and never had the problem.   :dunno:

I did it on mine.  Popped it out, flipped it and pressed it in. Then I brazed it.  It will work till I upgrade to Cross-over
