I got a question.  I have a 5 speed 85 Toyota 4-Runner, Just the other day in the middle of a climb, my tcase output shaft busted off.

Caused a lot of damage to my truck other than just the tcase.

Is there a much stronger non yota tcase out there that I can purchase an adapter for and not worry about this issue.

What I would love to do is find a tcase that will work with a driver side front driveshaft output so I can eventually switch to heavier axles and not have to switch the axle drop over.

Thanks to anyone with info.

i designed my rear disconnect with a super duty 31 mm Tundra output shaft [your factory output that you broke was 27mm]. Advance Adapter made a heavy duty output shaft, but has had a poor service record.
There are adapters made to install a j**p, or an Atlas t-case.

Thanks Marlin, I the case I busted the output shaft on was a Marlin Case, I appreciate that you are the type of business man who will answer my question with honesty and truthfullness.

I almost ordered one of those heavy Advance shafts, glad you answered this question.

How long on average does it take to break apart, replace the output shaft, and put the case back together, not including R&R of the case??

Thanks,

Aaron

Im confused you say you have a driver side drop t- case?  Toyota didnt use that till 88 I think and that was with V6's.  Anyway the case will take about 1 1/2 hours to change the shaft if you have all the tools there and are ready for it.  Good luck

No, I dont have a drivers side drop tcase, I have the passenger side right now but was interested in a drivers side drop so when I decide to break down and buy my Unimog axles for my runner, I will not have to pay 1500 to switch the pumpkins from the drivers to the passenger side.

Will the newer Tcases work on the older Yotas with some type of adapter?

Now I understand your train of thought.  you are somewhat limited on your options, you could flip a d300, use a heep case or I *think* a Mco9 might work for that.
