30 spline longfield help

       I'm ready to reassemble my axles w/ 30 spline Bobby Longs. I knew I would have to do some grinding as a pamphlet that came w/ the axles said i would. I finally got them in but there is very little room inside. it seems that when the joint turns it will hit on the top and bottom. I'm afraid to keep grinding there wont be anything left. how much clearance is needed for these things to operate properly ? they're huge  any advice is appreciated thx

You got them in and still have to grind?  Mine took a little grinding to go in, but once they're in there's no problem.  Are you sure you've got them in all the way?  Maybe a bent housing?  How about a picture, maybe I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I bet you don't have them all the way in.

Bobby said they may hit a "little" depending on the knuckle.  I understood it to mean the birf will still rotate in the knuckle, it will just "knock".  If you can not spin the birfs at all in the knuckle, i bet you don't have them all the way in yet.

You do know they aren't intended to fit in Samurai axles, right?

When it turns which way? Make sure to keep it centered when checking, as normally the bushings would keep it from drifting up or down too much...

  Hey guy's thank's for the help, I will try to get some pics up but I'm not very computer savvy..I have it in all the way I'm sure, I can push them all the way to the axle tube opening. I might just be getting nervous I hadn't considered the bearing's and so on limiting the movement. But as it sits there's about 1/16 in clearance...how much do I need?? I'll try to get some pic's up...xx..samurai axles why I oughtta..xx..
