So, I found a motor for my poor truck.  After looking and researching, I definitely wasn't going to pay $3000 for a rebuilt motor.  Just not in my budget.  But a vehicle that popped up in my FB Marketplace feed, looked very familiar!!  And then I realized who it was, Kyle Gooding's crawler!!  He was a member here along time ago.  He sold his crawler, which was built, caged, and the motor was built, and running boosted propane.  Thing was badass!!  Years ago he sold it.  But it came back to him somehow, and I texted him about the motor in the rig that he had $800 price on it.  He proceeded to say he still has his built motor.  He tossed out a price, and a list of what was done.  I immediately said "SOLD!"

Here's the specs!
Bored .040 over
Balanced
MLS head gasket
crank scraper
ARP head studs
LC Dual valve springs
TRD stage 2 cam
fancy powder coated valve cover
and has maybe 100 hours of run time

The only thing I have concerns with is the cam, and how I will need to be doing some exhaust work.  But I think I will be fine with what I have now, until I can spring for a header, and a 2.25" exhaust.  But the fact the motor was broke in, and ran on propane makes me feel good.

what worries you about the cam? the power curve?

I don't know that cam profile but if I was going to build another one, I'd probably stay at 2" exhaust. that 2 1/4, man when it came on it really came on but the exhaust note was a little too tinny and crackly in the power. Could have been the muffler too, I didn't spend a lot of time trying to figure it out.

Everything online says to do a full exhaust.  One thing I am not a fan of, is a noisy exhaust.  V8's sound good with dual pipes and glasspacks.  But 4 bangers, are just annoying as hell.  I should be ok with the exhaust I have.  Factory manifold, gutted cat, new pipe and a quiet muffler.

V6's are almost as bad.  I do miss my El Camino with a v8 and dual pipes and glasspacks!!  I loved tunnels, and concrete barriers!!
