High Pinion Clearance ????????? need help

I got a high pinion third that im trying to get in my housing. I had a really hard time getting that sucker in there, my problem is now that its in there i need to get it back out because my arb copper line came out. Was I supposed to clearance the housing first?

pull it  out  till the  ring gear  hits  then  rotate the pinion,  should  be able  to pop it on out

a  little  wouldnt hurt,  but  if  it goes in dont worry bout it

I finally got it out!!! Then I clearanced the housing and it slid back in like butter. Thank God, I was getting way to pissed off.
