Picked up my 94 extra-cab today... going to be going on a shortbed frame, havent decided what motor to put in it yet just know i dont want to run the stock V6..might be going full width if the funds come. will be sticking w/leaf springs cause im too poor for anything else will post pics on here tomorrow so you guys can bug me untill i get it done.

looks like your getting some thing done! motor? trans.? looks alittle high in the rear. but I like the way it's starting to shape up!

I still need to cut off and move the rear mounts... and figure out how to put the motor in..

have any info on smop and crap with putting a 85 22re into a 90 truck that had a 3.0 in it? also since i know i will be running a 22re any suggestions on how to start splicing the wiring harnesses together?

Well unless things have changed, and I don't think they have you can't put a 85 eng. in a 90 veh. you can go up in years but not down. so you could put the 90 V-6 in the 85, but not the 85 in the 90. got to love cali.

when you swaped frames did you just bolt the body back on or did you have to fab?

so i can put the engine in but need all the 90 and up smog stuff? even if im causing less emitions since im puting in a smaller motor?

what state are you in?  if you're in california and you want to drive it on the road with an older engine you can forget it

yes but all the blocks and heads are the same so all i need is the intake and the smogcrap along with the newer engine bay 22re wiring harness..

Well taps quoted me at $400 shipped for a complete wiring harness, complete intake, all smog stuff, and a computer... think i might just go ahead and go down that road.. I have another block i could bolt all the stuff onto and just through it in... then when i got ready i could swap my duals and w56 into it and get some  

On another note i started really looking at the wiring harness today and im really confused.. i tried to take just the engine harness off but it goes back into the cab on both sides and behind the dash... I was talking to marlin like 20 min b4 this and he said i didnt have to take out the in dash harness...im really not seeing how this is possible though... another thing is if i put in a 4 cyl harness behind the dash will the 90 4cyl plugs go right into the 90 v6 plugs or were they different?

I see your looking for a 90+22re intake and "stuff". may do the trick for ya but be awarre that you will have to go before the ref. and get a motor swap cert.

k.. got tired of waiting for you guys to motivate me so i took the initiative and got some stuff done yesterday and today...

90 cab was sitting on a 83 frame but sunday night i changed my mind and decided on putting it on an 85 frame taht i have had sitting around... bassically went froma bare frame to this in two days

Ill get some better pics of the old frame and why i decided to swap everything onto the other frame tomorrow when its daylight.. I did everything a lot cleaner this time... everything lines up good n stuff... Still need to:

weld rear spring hanger for allpro springs.. made mounts just need to weld them on
weld rear cab mounts on
fully weld homemake frame brace behind the steering box
waiting on my mounting kit for the IFS box
Plug all the motor shiz in

today i could only take my stuff up because i only had a 110 welder.. need to find a 220 to borrow to get it on there good..

and make some sort of a tube back.. suggestions welcome

nope... i went from an 83 reg cab frame to an 85 reg cab frame... just did stuff cleaner.. pics will explain tomorrow... the guy that i had gotten the truck from had welded 2x3 box to the tops of the cab mounts to make a hombrew body lift... thought it might be ok but changed my mind... i want it to be clean

Hmm nice body lift.  My 84 has a 3x4" 1/4 wall body lift as well, the body used to be selded to the blocks with no washers!  Its much nicer now.

well i got everything done except for:

rear D-shaft
motor wiring needs to be plugged in
front brake lines
Put the interior all back together
mount the gas tank
drill shifter holes in the floor

and i still need to buy front marker lights, headlights, coil/ignitor and a distributor for a 92 4cyl...

spent all freekn day trying to get a gas tank to fit anywhere on the truck and it doesnt Ive gone insane, i have an 85 tank that fits perfectly but it is missing the vent tube in it...dont know what to fo.. maybe a 4runner tank will work...

i have eveything together and my gas guage pegs, headlights dont work, when you try to put on the turn sygnals it makes the flasher relay buzz, when you push the hazards the lights in the dash where there suppposed to flash on and off just stay on and make the flasher relay buzz... changed the relay and it still buzzes and didnt fix nething... i checked the grounds on the right side of the dash and its hooked up so are the ones going off the fuse block at the drivers kick panel... when i turn on the headlights i hear the relay click but i still get no power to the lights of the tailight plugs...for some reason when the key is turned off the radio wont shut off...and also when you turn on the fan the relay clicks butthe fan doesnt come on.... I have no idea how to work on a wiring system so if anyone has any info PLEASE let me know.. I didnt know if it would have anything to do with the fact that the gauge cluster had no tack and needs to be messed with or what... PLEASE HELP i have to drive this thing to school wendsday!

it do sound like a ground problem. check the chasiy grounds too. hard to say from S.M want is wrong in Ats. butt I'll beat it a ground some where.

i need to make sure the harness is grounded to the body and the body to the frame and the frame to the engine correct?
