Tcase contacts xmember
« on: Apr 09, 2007, 09:45:09 PM »
My stock rubber mounts don't seem to be up to the task. My tcase is contacting the xmember right by the drain plug under load. Starting to wear away the case. I guess one solution would be to clock the case but I don't really want to buy another adapter. Does any one know of any company making poly tcase mounts? I don't want to lift the drivetrain if I don't have too. I kind of like my front driveshaft angle the way it is. Thanks.

Nobody makes aftermarket mounts that I know for the 4wd...have you tried tightening the big nut& bolt on the tranny mount? it gets loose over time. If you have dual cases do you have 2 mounts as well? Are you'r engine mounts worn or broken? Are you using a low profile drain plug? aftermarket crossmember?
It sounds like you have more drivetrain movement than there should be.......But you were not very specific on you'r drivtrain setup here....

i have dual cases and I'm using two mounts. One is supposedly new and the other is used. I have a low profile plug but it is the outside corner of the case that is hitting my aftermarket xmember. I thought the V6 tcase mounts were different than the 4cyl case mounts. The one that came off my VF1A will not fit my 4cyl case. I'll check again.

Well I just checked the tcase mount from my old v6 tcase and it is completely different than the ones I have on my 4cyl cases. Am I missing something here? I also checked my motor mounts again and they look prertty damn good. I understand the Rockstomper Motor mounts transmit a lot more vibration. I drive some pretty good distances so I think I'll stick with the stock mounts. Guess I'll have to try some new case mounts.

Did you chain the motor mounts to the frame?  That seems to help.  My drain plug is also hitting my crossmember but it's due to the fact that the hole in my super old All-Pro crossmember isn't in the correct spot.  I need to enlarge the hole and I'll be fine.  My other problem is the old All-Pro crossmember only uses one t-case rubber mount.

No I didn't chain the mounts but that may be a solution. I think I'll try some new tcase mounts as well. Thanks.
