That's quite the dilemma man.  On the one hand you'll be starting with a much cleaner and known good runner, but on the other hand you've already put soooo much time on the first gen.  I'm partial to first gens so I may be biased, but starting with something that runs very well throws a monkey wrench in my reasoning....
