Need ideas on the best simple, easy, stock looking center console set up for an 88 4Runner. Dual cases - 5-speed.

Should I use a short throw shifter?

Any pictures or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

- Roy

I saw this set up for a later model but not sure how to accomplish it with my 88.

There is no good excuse not to follow the pick-up!

I also need ideas for my 84, duel cases are coming soon.

I know  I've seen some good stock looking installs but not lately. I don't want to go all fancy. Just dont want to have to hack up the center console to much.

I just installed my dual cases and not quit done with my center console.  I will get some picks when they are finished. The truck is at a friends house becasue my rear driveline needs to be lengthened so cant finish it yet and can't take pictures yet.  What i did is removed the front part of the console and put a hole in the second part, thin i put the carped inbetween the 3 shifters.  I moved the second part of the consle backwards.

I'm in the same boat but I'm working with half auto trans console and a 5-speed boot console I got off e-bay. I think it's gonna work out ok. I'll take and post some pics when I can.

Very Cool. What year truck and what trans? The shifter looks close to the radio (or maybe I'm seeing things).

Blucruz, you convereted your forward shift to top shift?  thast what i did so my two front shifters don't fit inside the stock console anymore.  I did some trimming and moved the whole console back an inch or two and now they fit.  Still havent got any pics.

who needs a center consel or shift boots or any of that fansy stuff, i just had holes in the flore where the shifter goes through, just take the doors off and the tires howling will drown out any noise comming from the drive trane, lol :screwy: :hammer:

The Truck is an 85', the Tranny, Crawler, T-Case Combo I Puchased from the Guy I bought the Truck From, He thinks its out of an 87' or 88', He just picked the one out of his toyota graveyard that was the best. The shifter is a little clos to the radio, but theres enough clearence to change cd's whille in first or thrid (dont use fifth). And I was wonder'n about the radio clearnce when I put the Tranny, Crawler, T-Case Combo and why it was so differnt from mine ?? Ohh Well !
