I've been neglecting the Macho Taco for too long now . Haven't wheeled it since Thanksgiving weekend and it's been sitting with a wasted steering box since , so I finally got around to working on it . The steering box I had on it originally I bought used and lasted a few trips to The Hammers before going out . Then I got a second one from my buddy Troy and it went on it's first trip out . I made a stupid mistake  :smack: when I was putting that one on and put brake fluid in the box thinking it was power steering fluid  :smack: . Luckily I realised it right away and drained it but didn't flush the box or the lines so I'm thinking that's what ruined the seals . I bought a remanufactured box this week and I mounted it up today . TDS is in 2 weeks so I'm getting it ready , I still need to buy a new steering arm .

you do know power steering fluid in a toyota box is bad??  your supposed to use Dextron ATF,  something about pwr steering fluid eats the toyota seals,  or makes them too soft.

my box worked great till i made the same mistake,  poured in pwr steering fluid and now it leaks like a kitchen strainer

flammable true,  but unless the jeep friend was running a toyota steering box he needed to run pwr steering fluid, cause thats what jeeps like

Yes, Toyota FSM calls for ATF only....

I have seen a box with new seals start leaking within days after it was filled with PS fluid...its very common

I use synthetic power steering fluid and have had no issues. The Valvoline Syn fluid is rated for Toyota's.
