63's vs' marlin 5 inch
« on: Mar 17, 2007, 01:07:56 AM »
for flexing perpouses and ride, what is a better flex/ride? chevies or marlins? I am going to run rears up front mixed with something, with either marlins or chevies rear. I want flex but I want a good spring. I was thinking of geting the marlin rear lift kit and building my front end, thanks

i have the chevies just like many others do and they work great. there cheap and not a hard swap. sometimes i wish i would have went with a rear lift spring from marlin as i continue to build my truck more. why, because with the chevies there really long and your rear shackle hangs out a lot more. with a bed bob it kinda makes them stick out even more. its no big deal though, many people work around it. i would just like my shackles tucked under my truck more. either way is a good choice in my opinion. you cant go wrong with either.

i went through all the write ups on chevys, talked to a few people running them, more than once people have been hung up on the rear shackles alone. my truck is bobed 12 in. so i'm looking for other springs. i would like to know more on ranger or wrangler springs.

Have 63s and I couldnt be happier with them. They ride awesome on the street (even with the dual shackle) and flex tremendously on the trail. If you are planning on bobbing your frame or bed though I can see how the shackle would then stick out too much and get you hung up on stuff. If that is your plan then I would say go with the marlins, ive heard nothing but good things about them. Thats what Im going to be running up front eventualy, but i plan on keeping my rear end how it is.

I think I am leaning towards the marlins cause it comes in a kit. What about flex? would chevies flex more than the marlins? Do you have to move mounting with the marlins like you would with the chevies? or is it bolt and go?
