ORS Coilovers
« on: Mar 16, 2007, 02:59:09 PM »
After wheeling for 5 years on the same set of leaf springs, I finally decided to go ahead and make the big swap and put on coilovers.  About 4 months ago I put a call in to ORS and aksed them to send me there biggest badest kit. With 2" OD
5/16"-wall lower control arms and some massive heim joints. I also wanted as much travel as possible so I went with 16" Fox shocks.
This is pic of the truck before coils.

I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

It took about 3weeks of nights and weekends. Thats with removing all the old stuff and getting everything set up. As for the rear, I just finished building my Diamond Axle rear, that will go on with leafsprings for now. But that will change when ORS puts out a 4link for the rear. Im hoping that will be before the year is up.

The kit really was not hard to install, just give yourself plenty of time to think to through and follow the directions. As for the Diamond axle I love'em so much I ordered a matching rear.

The ORS kit is beautiful, I just wish that I had anything close to that much disposable income lying around.

Very nice looking- its in my future, hopefully this summer.
When using 16" CO's, was there a benifit in susp. cycle or performance over the kits recommended 14" CO's?  And did you have to make any mods to use them?
Also, whats the wms width on your ft. Diamond?  And how far inboard did you have the center section placed on it (looks to be inboard of stock housing location so you can mount u-bolt plates?)
thanks, aaron

Very nice!!!     I just notice you are running a 3rz. How do you like it? I just drove my runner to San Diego yesterday. The lack of power in the 22r is killing me......especailly on the hills.  :shake: That suspension kit looks killer. What is your frame height?  How much uptravel do you have?
`87 runner....it was stock....now sas'd, 37's, duals, geared/ locked, 10in bob, half doors, rock lights. etc., etc.,.........coming soon a 3.4 swap!!!

I just thought that if I was going to go with coilovers that I would be cheating my self by not going to 16"s As for the Diamond, I went with 61"s. Some people ask why 61 and not 63. At the time I thought it best to not go over board with width. Now I think 63 would be perfect.
