Custom Front Springs?(done)

I've been throwing around the idea of building a set of stock length custom front springs. Kinda like they build the rears for up front take leafs out of here and there to create a new spring. I know i saw a guy do this a while back but don't remember how well they worked or how flexy they were. I hoping go get rid of the huge shackles i have on the front now by making a taller set of springs. I have a 3in lift in the front now but it settled alot and i had to use shackles to level out the truck and lost all my shackle angle. Can anyone give me any imput on these or should i just try it and see what happens.  :help:

thats the thread i was looking for thanks alot im going to try this and see what happens im using a set of 91 rear springs, 85 front springs, 82 front springs, and 82 rear springs.

I finished the spring pack today Im really skepitcal about how these springs are going to do I have some pics of them up agianst my 5in allpoos and they look like a 3in lift spring with 6 leaves in them. Anyones opinion on wether i should run these or scrap them.

I'd run em and see.  You're never going to be able to know how a spring will function before running it, so you may as well begin your trial run now...

I did a little investigating last night because i thought my allpoo springs were supposed to be longer than stock length front springs and turns out the guy who gave me the front springs had them in the front but they weren't stock So i built a set of Rears for the front and completly defeated the purpose i was going for. Now i have to find an actual set of front springs and swap everything over.  :hammerhead: I thought about trying them n e way but with out hysteer it would just be BAD!

Uhhhhmmm, wouldn't it make sense to build the new pack from the set of 3 inch front springs on the truck??? 
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

Yeah it would've made more sense but i didn't want the truck to be down long on something i wasn't sure about. I know a guy who ran rears up front and chevys in the rear without hysteer and never broke the j-arm so im comtemplating putting the 5in springs on! HMMMMMM! so many choices. PS i ordered new tires. 34/10.5/15 LTB Swampers.

I made my own version on Sat...

Top leaves are All-Pro with military wrap
next is a leaf from a stock rear pack '86
then another All-Pro leaf
then another stock rear leaf
and last is a stout YJ leaf

Works great!!! and only cost $40.00

im going to use these springs with a double shackle in the front that will be pinned, and a buggy leaf set up in the rear. the pin if for road driving because i don't have a trailer yet i have to keep it pretty stable in order to drive in on the road.

Mounted my new front spring minus the double shackle and realized that i need to take leafs out because they were way to tall. I took out two leafs and now they sit really nice IMO. I waiting a couple weeks on the double shackle until my buddy can help me with it, but i have to wait until he finishes he runner.
