I think that's what our boat motors run at work.  Napa gold filters are WIX, right?
yep

do the napa filters have a check valve inside them? since the filters are side mounted they need that to prevent the oil from dripping back into the sump. without it you are running your engine for a few seconds everytime you start it without any oil in the valve train
rebuilt 22R, downey header long tubes, 2.5" exhaust, 4 inch marlin lift with 3 inch shackles, detriot locker, 4.88's on 33's.marlin cross over steering and fror crossmember, power steering conversion, chromoly 30 spline bobby longs, 86+ wider rear axle, 12 inch 5150's all around, fully gusseted with armor...soon to be sitting on 35 bfg MT with an all pro roll cage and rock lights!

im not cool with that..... what about your oil filter?
O.K. since you'r not cool with that I changed my oil finally. the filter too. napa brand stuff. It only had 20 or 30 K on it but my motor burns oil like mad so I'm adding a quart every week or two..only like 150 miles. I guess that dosent count as an oil change though.  It's a new/rebuilt motor that never "broke in" or stopped burning oil...bummer...

i guess im a snob. i only use lexus filters imported from japan  :o

NAPA seems to be Valvoline with a weaker add package.  You run the cheapest oil you can find, Walmart comes to mind and buy it in the gallon jugs.

Here's an interesting read.  It is basically Mobil 1 vs. Amsoil.  I think both have changed the formula since the test, but I don't know for sure.  The review refers to Mobil 1 as a fully PAO (Group IV) synthetic, but there seems to be strong evidence that it now contains Group III base oils.

The Mobil 1 last 18,000 miles and the Amsoil was still going strong at 14,000 miles when the year was up.  The interesting thing was that the Amsoil 5w-30 was closer to a 15w-40 and when they switched back to fresh Mobil 1 for the next round they gained 10% fuel economy.

pretty cool site....

but ya napa filters are WIX filters and the gold line has a silicone anti-drain-back "valve" in it, which is key on the 22's horizontally mounted filter...although it still spills down the side of the block if u dont flip it up right quick when ya pull it off, but o well...
