I wouldn't doubt it man the jeep was setting in there for a while

That hole probably didn't help either

Not A Toy

too true oh well pictures last a lifetime. eventually people will stop believing what you say because either your old and senile or your old and they dont like that you know more so they doubt it anyways.

check your ball joints, i totally blew apart both lowers on my xj after wheeling it hard, if you got any kind of miles on them w/ the lager tires they might be bad as well. i think you can swap in shafts from a late model tj w/ abs but no vacuum disco and get a bigger u-joint

Not A Toy

its running towards 116000 miles but still runs great. and I think at least both of my u-joints are gonzo. they both have at least a 1/8th inch of wiggle by hand. and as for the lower ball joints i would be willing to bet they are gone too. every once in awhile when i turn a corner i here a clank or when i hit a solid bump.. i was on the freeway in the morning the other day doing 65 when my jeep started shaking so bad i thought my tire was either coming off or had blown! but when i got out i could see nothing wrong? so i get in hit another bump and it happened again. so i looked at it after work and there is a straight bar with a curved end that goes to the passenger side wheel kinda like another sway bar or maybe its the torsion bar? anyways there were two bolts loose uder it allowing it to move 1/4 inch and i think thats where that came from because it hasent happened again. and when i go 55 or 6o there is a vibration, it feels like a up and down vibration sorta like my wheels hopping or something. oh do you know if the front end is a c-clip axle its a dana 30 and if so to change a ujoint do i need to remove the axles? thanks for any info i appreciate it

negative on the c-clips, that curved bar is your track bar. it locates the axle laterally, the rod end on the frame side will pop like mad too if it's bad. check ball joints by lifting front end and trying to move the tire up and town by hand any up/down play can be down right scary at speed.

saltyYota

still gotta take out the axles though, to get the u-joint pressed in.

Not A Toy

but it shouldnt be hard to remove the axles tho, i put a aussie locker in my buddies xj a couple of weeks ago (rear axle) piece of cake and it works well too. anyways i appreciate the help im buying them from six dates tomorrow so wish me luck.

u-joints are easy, good luck w/ the ball joints. if you rent a press try to get one w/ the sleeves that match the angle on dana axles. the others will work but it takes a lot more time to press the joints because w/ flat sleeves they will go in crooked, so you have too go slow and keep them even w/ a drift.

Not A Toy

This was a long ass reply in the making. It ended up being both front u-joints were bad got em changed and everything is good to go! thanks for everyones help

ah no worries about gettin stuck its not that bad, just happens sometimes. i gotta take care of my carb on my blazer, think my overflow is flooding the motor on the steeper hills.

yeah me and pat had an adventure upto mantua and there wasnt one damn rig that didnt keep getting repeatedly buried! we had to leave on over night which sucks for anyone.. Huh wish i knew more about carb's to help ya out but I really dont know too much just the basics.

haha yea pat told me about that trip, said it snowed an extra foot or so overnight and made getting that rig out even harder.

pat had the same problem with his carb and his fuel overflow was easy to access/modify, the stock 4 barrel carb on my blazer is not so easy to mess with (quadrajet). i'll see what i can do for cheap.

Belated welcome...

Hey, we finally got some snow wheelin' down here in the south end of the state a few days ago.  My new 38.5s work great in the white stuff.

Red - the quadra-jets are easy to deal with.  ...and the carb kits are only like 12 bucks..........

come on man i thought you knew all about chevy? would'nt the autozone or checkers sell a rebuild kit for the old betty?

red

haha yes they do but a rebuild is not my problem. you remember how your carb would flood your motor on inclines? thats what mine is doing (and i'm not familiar with modifying the carb to fix that problem). i need to find the overflow opening and reroute it like you did.
